What The Club Says
Situated to the west of Edinburgh, Kingsknowe golf club is within easy reach of all Scotland via the Edinburgh City Bypass and M8 and M9 Motorways. Originally designed by Alec Herd, the 1902 Open champion, the course was later redesigned by James Braid.
The parkland golf course in Edinburgh is laid out over and through the valleys of gently rolling hills on which Oliver Cromwells army gathered to bombard Redhall Castle in 1650. This golf course comprises several tough dogleg par fours throughout the 18 with the feature hole coming at the 460-yard par four sixteenth.

Played the course a couple of times over the winter - obviously the course is under winter conditions where after rain the fairways are heavy & some winter greens in use. However, the condition of the main greens that were in play was fantastic (better than some courses during the main season!) There was evidence of a number of key course improvements being carried out across the winter - in particular complete bunker overhauls on the par 3 1st & 11th which look amazing. Based on the winter work on the course & the quality of the greens - Kingsknowe should definitely be on your list to play in 2026Reviewer Rating

Certainly worth a visit.
Great course layout. Lovely surroundings. Course looking and playing very well. Greens in great nick. No catering facility, expect coffee vending machine before 11am(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 82 Handicap: 14.6)

lovely course
it's one way to get build up your calf muscles. each hole is very unique with a lot of up and downs on the way. all staff were very welcoming and helpful with the layout. greens played quick considering the downpour the night before.(Round played: Sep 2017 - Score: 96 Handicap: 21.6)
