What the club says: Gorleston Golf Club was founded in 1906 and is internationally famous for being the most Easterly course in the British Isles.
Our front nine signature holes partly hug the top of spectacular 40-foot sandy cliffs offering awe-inspiring sea views to the North and East. Whilst we have seamlessly integrated into our in back nine, some parkland holes to meet all the expectations of today’s golfer.
The course’s wide defined fairways and level terrain makes it easily walkable coupled with our excellent drainage and irrigation system allows play all year round

"A coastal course of great character"
A course not to be missed for its blend of cliff top and parkland environment.

Society Day
Our society day started off with a full English breakfast, which was good. The weather was bright with a slight easterly breeze ie off the sea. As the course was dry the fairways had a bit of run and the occasional bad bounce. The greens too had not recovered from their Spring treatment ie scarrifying and airrating ,but generallt the course was in a reasonable condition, and it would not stop me playing it again.

Course in good condition
Had a good day at gorleston today. The fairways and greens were in good condition(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 96 Handicap: 22.9)

Golf on the Edge
In my ‘retirement’ years I have been travelling around the country playing many different golf courses. This is proving to be a great way to see places I’ve not been to before. What better course to play then, than the easternmost in the UK? This is golf on the edge. Sadly the ‘edge’ is gradually being lost to coastal erosion, so parts of this delightful course may not survive long into the future. The signature par-3, 7th green is a mere 18 feet from the cliff edge. The 8th tee is even closer.... don’t hit a big slice here!
Sometimes it’s not easy to score well at a new course but I found this to be very playable, finishing with the same ball I started with, which is always a good sign! I think I got lucky though with today’s wind, from the South, making the clifftop holes downwind.
The 3 short holes all play in the same direction, Southwards into wind, so I didn’t use an iron from any tee, but there’s variety in length of others. Good (small) greens & tee boxes, perfect looking bunkers, some great views.... what’s not to like?
I enjoyed a drink in the clubhouse where I met some friendly members, the club captain and a past lady captain. They would love to see more visiting golfers here so, for anyone wanting an enjoyable round on a course that won’t punish you too much, this is highly recommended.
