What the club says: Designed by James Braid, 5 times Open winner and member of the "World Golf Hall of Fame", and opened in 1933, this eighteen hole, par 70 course is just over 6,000 yards in length and presents a challenge to golfers of all standards.
The River Cole, three lakes and mature trees feature throughout the course. Particular favourites are the 12th hole where the gentle river Cole presents a constant challenge appearing both to the sides of the fairway as a lateral hazard, whilst the elevated green of the par 3, 16th hole, is reached by playing over a stunning lake.

Worth a round if you have never played this course.
Played this on the 29th July 2026. A nice enough course with some great holes. However its an expensive day if you require a buggy to go round. I have a dodgy knee so enquired about hiring a buggy and was told £35. I asked if there was a reduction for a single rider and was told quite bluntly that there was not and it was £35 and that was that. I thought fair enough the club have their rules and I would obviously abide by them as a guest. Other than that it was an enjoyable round. Course itself was nice but the fairways were very black and bare in lots of parts. Several times when trying to play a pitch shot or even an Iron shot it was playing off bare ground so no chance to play the shot as you would like it. On several occasions all four of us simply caught it bare and it bounded 50 to 60 yards away from where it was aimed. Would I play it again ?. Yes, of course however would not pay the green fee that they are asking for at this moment in time for a guest. Definitely worth playing if you have never played it before and I am sure you will enjoy the course itself.Reviewer Rating

Lovely Parkland Course

Gold with buddies
Met up with some old work colleagues. Enjoyable conversations and good golf in parts. The course was still very soft, so no run. The greens were reasonable and quickened as the round progressed, if a little bumpy. The course requires carefully management but there was little rough.Reviewer Rating

Certainly a Course you have to play

Nice track
As a high handicapper I found the course to literally be a game of two halves. I found the front 9 easier than the back. The course is well kept and laid out, thoroughly enjoyed the game.Reviewer Rating

The best local golf course I have played
I was advised that this course is a proper golfers course. I now know what people mean when they say a proper golfers course. Very picturesque course with excellent greens and fairways. The tees are better than most greens I have played on. Facilities and staff are great.Reviewer Rating

Lovely Parkland Course

Super greens
Greens are now super fast and tricky, especially on downhill putts. Course in great condition and recovered well from last year's drought conditions(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 96 Handicap: 15.4)

Really enjoyable

Great place to be
Played here last week (Early September) and though it worthy of a review.We were made to feel very welcome from the very start of our day by the Pro Shop. Good advice and friendly professional service.
The Course was in Tip Top condition and played lovely on the day. We seen many Green staff working hard and it was obviously paying off.
After the round we enjoyed some nice food and drink on the patio watching other golfers playing the 18th hole and relaxed in the knowledge we had played well today.
A real friendly private members club that I would love to go back and play again, or even join when the time comes round to April. Certainly a Golf Club how It should be.
Brilliant staff all round and real credit to what makes this golf club a great place to be.
