What the club says: Chester-le-Street Golf Club was founded in 1908 with an initial layout of 9 holes. The course has been extended over the years to achieve the existing eighteen hole 6479 yard course, situated approximately one mile from the centre of the town on the Eastern banks of the River Wear.

Golf by the castle
Lovely weather aided an eventful round of golf in the sweeping layers of Chester-le-street course. A good mixed of challenging Par 4 and some wide open space to test your driver. Nestled between Lumley castle and the riverside cricket ground, along with a very reasonable green fee made for an enjoyable day. Pity some slow play caused us to get to know the pairing ahead and behind well but we got round. If not visited I think it's worthy of playing a round. EnjoyReviewer Rating

Flowing set of challenges
Second visit to this course. A lot of work to improve it since first visit as it was extremely wet and soft. Some long par 4?s with a challenging uphill blind hole. Rough has been left long so risk is there if left or right. All the Par 5?s are in the onward 9 so chance to redeem your score in the backward 9. Enjoy a well earned drink in the club house after a 3.5hr round.Reviewer Rating

Superb Course, beautiful views.
Became a member two years ago never looked back, beautiful course, excellent layout, and has some challenging holes. Everyone at the club are friendly and make you welcome, from the club chairman all the way down to the excellent staff who run and maintain the club. 5 Star.Reviewer Rating

not overly impressed with coarse condition although greens were fast, to be fair work was being carried out on bunkers which probably led to neglect of fairways. the coarse is long and very hilly so a buggy would be an asset

The course is excellent condition considering all the work that is being done. A lot of tree have been removed and it looks a lot better now and I think they are redoing the bunkers soon which is good news seems when all work is complete this course will be even better which is a pat on the back for all included. The clubhouse is excellent also and the food is ideal for what you need after a round of golf excellent all round.
