What The Club Says
Calverley Golf Club 18 hole golf course is a par 68, 5351 yard course that spans both sides of Woodhall Lane, through the beautiful West Yorkshire countryside around Pudsey. It starts with a short but challenging front 9 that includes the par 3 'The Quarry', a hole not for the faint hearted. The second 9 opens out and meandours though the picturesque countryside and eventually brings you to the 18th green in front of the Clubhouse.

Should be better than it was
Played Calverley for first time in ages , years , my thoughts , firstly it's a private course where members of the public in the main are not allowed access so no idea why every single flag only had the white pole and no flag on any hole?? Also the Tee boxes are well done and look good BUT would it harm or cost much to actually paint the Red/Yellow/White pieces of wood that indicate which Tee to use? The Course in general was well maintained but , and I know we are having a very dry spell at the moment , no excuse for the greens to literally in the case of the 1st and 16th to not have a blade of grass on them and they were like putting on ice , why are the hole positions , knowing this , put in positions that make the hole unplayable ? Case in point 16th , uphill par 3 of approx 140 yds , two bunkers directly in front of the green meant you had to hit it to land straight onto green , to do that it was impossible to stop the ball and you end up straight through , but your now putting downhill and a trickle putt meant it went past and landed 20ft away , hole 1 was virtually unplayable because of the green condition and where the Pin placement was , my argument is not too far away is two courses which have had the same amount of Sun on them yet one gets watered daily so the grass is like a lush carpet and the other is quick but still has plenty of grass and its a municipal course in every other phrase but has flags attached and Greens playable. I do think the Course is a brilliant challenge with a nice variety of holes and very enjoyable to play , the points I mentioned (flags/paint) would cost nothing to do and the greens could be maintained better.Reviewer Rating

A good course with some issues
I've always enjoyed the layout to calverley. Some challenging holes and some on the easier side. The one par 5 on the course never failing to cause me problems. The fairways were in beautiful condition and the greens pretty good as well, if a little slow. The price was a little on the high side for me given a few of the holes were temp greens. Other than that as enjoyable as alwaysReviewer Rating

Excellent value
Course needs some Tlc in terms of cutting grass and getting bunkers sorted but for £12 for 18 holes you can’t argue. Club is friendly and beer is reasonably priced.Reviewer Rating

I have never seen such terrible greens in 25 years of playing the game ,, course in terrible condition and quite untidy ,,each tee needs marking up properly so it's easier for visitors ,,it's very confusing ,,also weeds in bunkers is a sign the club don't care about the course ,,only highlight was the guy in the pro shop he was lovelyReviewer Rating

First n foremost, for the price, you won't find a better value golf course anywhere! We got a bargain price on Golf Now for 8.99 for 18.... unbelievable.
There are some negatives tho. I think more clearer signage for the lay out would be an advantage and the tee boxes need work, although you can't excuse some people's idea of fun when they purposely vandalise some. The Course is quite forgiving and the signature 5th hole is very good. Didn't like that holes 17 and 18 are across the road from the rest of the course. If they could somehow bring everything together in one place I feel it would be better.
All-in-all tho, I enjoyed the experience and would return in time.

Poor so poor
Played a few weeks ago, three ball in front of me held me up for the first 5 holes. The course was the worst I've played, needs a lot of work. Bunkers or full of weeds and sand like concrete.
Pro shop was ok and staff were friendly.
