What the club says: Bransford Golf Club at the Best Western Bank House Hotel, Golf & Country Club first opened in 1992. It was designed by Bob Sandow and started life as a '11 hole' course which was extended to '18 holes' in 1994.

Our course offers golfers the chance to play at a real Floridian style golf course featuring 14 lakes, island greens and curving doglegs towards well-kept greens. At 6,204 yards in length, Bransford will challenge golfers of even the best abilities to keep on a straight line in order to avoid the hazardous water traps.

A very well kept course advertised as a 'Florida' style course. Can't comment on that but I found it a great course that was challenging with long holes and plenty of water hazards.
Clubhouse staff always friendly and has a lovely restaurant with balcony seating overlooking the putting practice green and the 10th Tee. The long 14th par 5 is definitely a challenge from the tee with water right of your second shot and trees all along the left which is similar to a number of others on this course. I've played this a few times now and still struggle to break 80. Always leaves you wanting to go back

Great course

I've played Bransford a few times now and it doesn't get any easier. Its more difficult than it looks for me at least. Still struggling to break 85 here. Its a well laid out course with some water hazards if you're wayward off the tee. A couple of challenging narrow fairways with trees either side too but a lovely course to play. If you are carrying your bag be prepared for the big climb up to the tee on the 15th. Its a leg killer!. The clubhouse has a nice cafe/restaurant with a balcony overlooking the practice putting green and the 10th tee so you can enjoy a coffee and watch them drive into the water hazard on the left of the 10th fairway. There's also water on the corner of the dogleg on this hole. I played beginning of May and fairways were very firm and greens were slick. I'll be back for sure.

A real challenge for all levels. Only downside is not many holes allow the big hitters to really rip a drive but cannot fault the course or greens. Excellent practice facilities as well. Well worth a weekend visit with a stay at The Bank House Hotel

Absolutely wet beyond belief. The fairways were like bogs. The paths were atrocious and the course should have been shut under these conditions. We we’re losing balls on the fairway it was that bad.

Hidden gem on way home

Selected this course due to location, on the way home from South Wales. Round 3 of 3. No buggies available so we decanted ½ sets to carry. Strategic course with plenty of trouble. Nice condition except for dry ditches. Greens very good and lots of eye catching holes. Accepted GreenFree vouchers too!

Wetter than a lake!!

We went as a 4 ball and paid £140. I have to be honest and say that if we had paid £40 I would still feel I had been had over!!
The drainage is none existent here - The fairway grass was @ 5-6 inches long, clearly as they couldn't get the mowers on them due to it being bog land.
It suggests its a Florida style course - other than being like the Everglades - I don't know how it is.

I think it could be a nice course but to be really honest - this would only be during a drought.
I will never ever bother playing here again. Shocking from the first hole to the 18th.

A quirky layout with water in play on several holes.

A quirky layout, with 6 par 3's, 6 par 4's and 6 par 5's. Water is in play on most holes, but is well placed to only catch poor shots, or poorly thought out shots.

The Course was in very nice condition, greens were a little soft, but very true and running at a good speeds. The rough isn't very penal, which makes it a great place to play for the higher handicappers.

The layout of the course is disappointing, the par 3's are very similar too each other (5 holes ranging from 179 - 188 yards), and the par 4's are generally short with some exaggerated dog legs which makes it difficult for the visiting golfer to gauge tee shots. The par 5's are again generally short, the 6th hole having a large tree right in the middle of the fairway isn't a good design. The water on the 18th hole is a long carry for many high handicappers, another big dogleg, it could be a far better design.

Great course with lots of lakes, you need to keep straight and lay up sensibly depending on the holes. Greens so fast and true but members who had been out before us need to repair their pitch marks, I repaired marks on all 18 holes. Fairways although ok could have been a little shorter, first cut was quite long and with constant rain during the round, it was difficult spotting your ball easily and often tricky playing out of. Some of the bunkers had not been raked and this led to some problems getting out of them. That said it is a great course and will always play it. Clubhouse very friendly and produced one of the best b breakfasts we have had.

A quirky layout with 6 holes each of par 3, 4 and 5 but a fair test for the thinking golfer, dangers are water on most holes and slick and subtle slopes on greens. Had a great day playing in late September and the course was in great condition.

Course in great condition, fantastic layout with lots of water hazards for the stray or careless shots. Lots of run on the ball on the fairways, rough not to penal, so could find balls easily. Greens in perfect condition, true rill and so fast you had to be careful with each put but a great challenge. Bacon bap in the clubhouse afterwards finished the round of well.

Great course to improve your course management on

Started off on time with no waiting and friendly smile in the pro shop.
Greens in very good condition and not too much bad rough to loose your ball in.
Very demanding to avoid all the water and to keep in bounds on some fairways.
All in all a very good course and I will be coming back .

Course in terrible condition

Course was in terrible condition. Greens are showing signs of disease scaring which hadn’t been addressed by the club, there was an attempt at sand banding on the greens but no seed used which seems counterintuitive imo.
There are wet areas on the course which haven’t been white lined as GUR/Free drop, instead you’re often faced with a poor lie on the course with no where to drop. What’s more annoying is that there are areas on certain greens which should be free relief as they are soaked like sponges but instead they aren’t/ or the pro failed to tell us.
The tees are in a tired condition and for a Saturday they were severely divotted around the markers and didn’t seem like they have been divot filled or markers moved.
The holes themselves were possibly the worst holes I’ve seen presented on a course, quite a few of them had crowned very badly meaning holing a simple roll in 2ft putt was a mission/miracle and others had the lips completely collapsed and it ripped, the bunkers need sand shifting and the edges are in desperate need of a trim.
On the plus side, the first cut around the fairways was neat as was the fairways & rough.
I understand this is a wet course but I Just fee that there are many areas to improve on in order to make this course enjoyable for the spring.

A very nice Golf Course. It was wet in places, but considering we've had the wettest January for a century, I thought it stood up very well.
The greens in particular were excellent & so were the bunkers. The whole course was in great condition. I can't believe how fast the greens were for this time of year.
I disagree with the 'Tree' comment. I thought the trees on the 4th & 6th added character & made it an interesting shot choice.
The hotel was excellent, food good & all the staff ( inc the Pro) were very good
