What the club says: Located on the edge of the Peak District, the fantastic 12 holes at Brailford are a great challenge for low and high handicappers. Huge trees lining many of the fairways make them seem narrower than they really are and add some character to the course.

Brilliant Brailsford
went here very early Saturday for a quick 12 holes. Handy as you can get round in 2 hours and still have the day for other things. A very well maintained course which is not too long but still a tough little test of skills.Reviewer Rating

Worth a visit
A very quirky course, only 12 holes and then so many played again to make up the 18 holes. Was in good condition when I played (August 2024). Some challenging holes and some holes where shot placement is more important than distance. A very welcoming club with a nice clubhouse. Food was great and overall I thought it was great value for money. Will return!Reviewer Rating

12 delightful greens
If there's one issue with this wonderful course and club is that it only has 12 greens. So to get in 18 holes, 6 are repeated which occasionally causes hold ups at the duplicate tees.Reviewer Rating

Terrible attitude and poorly kept!
In our collective years playing golf across the globe, we have never experienced such rude treatment from a staff member, nor experienced such a poorly kept course. We arrived on site 20 minutes ahead of tee time, and proceeded to the driving range. We were shocked to see smashed beer bottles on the ground and litter, which in hindsight this was a precursor for the scenes about to face us on course. We had pre-booked and paid online for our group of 4 players. At this point I should mention that everyone within the group plays regularly to a good standard and we are all members of other clubs outside of the area. Within our party we had one additional guest, who is the other half of one of the players and does not play herself. We explained to check-in desk that as the clubhouse was not open (where she would usually wait) she would be walking with the group, and not playing. This is something which during lockdown we have done at many more prestigious clubs, without any issue. At this stage we were informed by the check-in desk that as she was not playing this would not be an issue considering she was simply walking with the group - and not playing. I should mention that we had been informed that no one else had booked to tee off behind us. We proceeded to tee off from the first, when suddenly a buggy came racing towards us. We were greeted with aggressive shouting from an irate lady who claimed to be management. She asked what on earth we thought we were doing, having an additional person walking with us. When we explained the situation and what we had been informed in the clubhouse, she stated “some people on this course actually take golf seriously” and threatened to kick us off the course! This was incredibly insulting and her aggressive nature was shocking and plain rude. Reading similar below reviews this seems to be a recurring issue with this staff member - I only wish we had read the review beforehand! \To make matters worse the course is so poorly kept, and the sheer amount of litter and beer cans which greeted us throughout was shocking. There are plenty of much more welcoming and beautifully kept golf courses in the area to choose from.Reviewer Rating

Course suffering from a wet Season
I have played this course several times in the past, so am generally happy to part with my cash. But today and recently, muddy underfoot and lack of drainage results in so-so conditions.
Like a lot of courses in this area the very wet autumn and winter has resulted in poor conditions. However the greens are in good condition comparatively.
The Course has not had the benefit of shaking off this curse.
Though I understand the need to maintain income and appease members, maybe there should be a thought to limit to members only (not me), or close for an extended period, to enable the course to recover somewhat (communicated on website as such) whilst ramping up off-course income.

Looking Good for the Summer
Having played this course on a regular basis through the dark season (teeing'up on fairways) when it has always been in good condition, it is now starting to bloom.Fairways are cut well, not too short, still offering protection and the greens are very good. Bunkers are receiving new season sand. The whole place looks very green in the sunshine.
Only downside - Not sure how the 8th green will cope with the intrusive geese and their bowel movements !
