What the club says: It is a course that will test your patience. It is not a course that favours one particular style of play over another, but one that simply rewards good play and good shots. For example, the 8th is only 155 yards and plays almost straight downhill, yet you must hit your shots within a 10 to 12 yard area or face a bogey.., or double-bogey. In a wind, it’s one of the most demanding shots I’ve ever faced. And that’s the character of the course. The 11th, a 446-yard par 4 perched right on the seaside cliffs, is one of the toughest holes in the world.

Should be On Everyone’s Bucket List

A wonderful course that should be on everyone’s bucket list. I’ve taken several guests out there in recent weeks and the common feedback is ‘can’t wait to get back’! We are fortunate enough to be members.

The jewel in the crown!!

Ballybunion Golf Club is the ?jewel in the crown? of Ireland?s golf courses and is definitely worth a visit. It should be on every golfers bucket list and every time you visit you just can't wait to come back. Every day, every game, every hole and indeed every shot is different in Ballybunion and no two rounds will be similar.

Cashen in Superb Condition

The Cashen course is in superb condition after its 3 months enforced closure due to Covid 19. The rough has grown considerably which adds to the challenge but the fairways and greens are in superb condition. The Greenkeeper and his team is due huge credit to have the Cashen Course back in ‘fine fettle’ after such a rough winter.

Brilliant Course

This course is one of Gods greatest creation marginally assisted by man. The natural fairways, super sand dunes and water features (Atlantic is on your right for many of the holes) makes this a special treat for local and tourist. Add it to your bucket list and if you're a golfer play here make sure you before you die......it will ably prepare you for what God has in store fro golfers in Heaven!!!

Ballyb back to its best

The Old Course in BB is back to its best after being reopened on St Patrick’s day following its 3month+ Winter sojourn. The fairways are immaculate, the greens are wonderful and slick and it’s playing tough. Enjoy if you get the chance to play it........you will be challenged on any given day depending on the elements.

Ballybunion second course a real challenge

The cashen course, Ballybunion second course, is a real treat and a real test of golf. Distance off the tee in this course is not the he key challenge but a few blind holes ensures that positioning on fairways gives you a real chance of a good score. Greens are superb and scenery as you play this course gets better with every hole, culminating with great views on the 16th and 17th and then an interesting 18th back to the clubhouse. Make sure it’s o; your itinerary when you visit the great Kerry links courses.

Wonderful Links

Ballybunion was at its most beautiful this morning in lovely sunny conditions. This course is exceptional and it's more of a golfing experience that a simple game of golf. The beauty of ten waves crashing below the 7th tee box and again along the 11th tee box is something that we can all enjoy no matter how many times you play this course. The greens are in great condition albeit surprisingly a bit slow. Te rough gives everyone a challenge visitor and member alike.......
Ten best thing is to avoid it.

Ballybunion Jewel

The Cashen Course in Ballybunion is in superb condition despite the adverse weather conditions in recent weeks. The greeens are in superb condition and this course is a fantastic test of golf, often forgotten because it is located alongside The Old Course. The impact of a strong wind on the day that we played ensured that we got to play some holes in birdies and others in bogies, double bogies and often worse. An enjoyable experience on a lovely typical windy Kerry day.

Hidden beauty in Kerry

Ballybunion Cashen Course is the second course in this complex but what a course. Fantastic views from tee boxes and greens. Fairways a challenge to find for some of us but when you do getting on in regulation not too bad. Secret is to put away the driver and use a fairway wood or a Rescue .........make sure you add this to your itinerary when you visit the South West of Ireland. You won't regret it.

The South West Jewel

This majestic course in the South West should be played by everyone at least once in their lifetime. The weather conditions can have a real impact on the quality of the golf and the level of enjoyment that you will get from this experience. The course is tough with the rough being extremely severe and T makes sense just to take your punishment when you go off the fairways. The greens have recently been re-done for the first time since the course was originally established in 1893. Pure class although still a little slow.

A fantastic day on the Cashen Course in Ballybunion left us with loads of challenging second shots either into the wind or else with the gale force helping you and requiring a club or 2below what we would normally use. Greens in good condition and mats being used for the winter months were often of significant help. .

Was really looking forward to this course and it didn't disappoint, although up to the 6th hole I was wondering what all the fuss was about. The par 5 4th and 5th were particularly disappointing, bland, long holes played against a background of caravans. However, once the route moves alongside the sea, the character and fun element ramps up hugely. From this point on, it's a fantastic course, routed through huge dunes with rolling, falling fairways. The course is extremely manicured for a links course and some of this felt a bit artificial, but I can't honestly say that it affected the round adversely. The clubhouse is excellent and very welcoming.

What a fantastic course!

The 2nd, 6 th, 7th and 8th will challenge any golfer and if you can par these 4 you will be in for a great front 9! On the back 9 the challenges are in the 11th, 15th, 17th and the 18th. If you come through those four at or under par you can claim to be a very good golfer and you will be guaranteed to have an excellent round.

The sea views on this course are equalled by those on the sister course known locally as The Cashen or just simply "The New Course"! The green keepers do a fantastic job on both courses and the greens will test most folders. Stay out of the roughness if you can if you want an enjoyable round with a low score!

The old course is a classic links. The opening 6 holes are fairly pedestrian, but then you get into the dunes and the fireworks begin! The course is extremely challenging, with lots of run-offs to punish errant iron shots.

The Cashen is probably a better piece of land than thr old, however RTJ Snr hasn't used it to its fullest. There are some fabulous holes - 13, 15 & 17 are particularly good and are perhaps better than the best holes on the old course however holes like 5 and 12 are an absolute design disgrace. Still, the course is well worth playing, esecially with the 2 course special on both courses at the moment.

If the land occupied by both courses were just discovered today you could build the best course in the world. As it is, we've got to settle for 2 very good, but imperfect, ones.
