5 Good little challenge of a course
Small nine hole course, long and short holes, not a course for wayward drives
(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 106 Handicap: )

5 Played a few of the Fife Holt Trust courses over the past few months and it is clear that Auchterderran doesn't get the same attention from the Trust as other courses. That said the course is laid out over natural ground and not man made like many others and therefore brings into play many humps, bumps. Glad to see that there is a local rule in place for free lift and drop from the natural rock formation on the fairways. It is apparent from the fairway cut that the hinder the Green keeper when cutting fairways. I can see the course being challenging for some. Most holes require a hit of 100 yards plus to carry trouble at some point, either of the tee or second shot. Whines and rough line the fairways so straight hitting is an advantage. The greens looked patchy through winter damage and dry spell but were showing signs of recovery so putting in and around hole was fine. Is this a must play course, NO, does it challenge your ability as a golfer, YES purely due to the fact that it isnt perfect or prestige. In fact the natural elements probably takes you back in time before courses became manacured show pieces. I say give it a go, especially if your golfing ability is of a reasonable standard.

5 Disgrace. Should give me money to play it.
Played this course and I for sure will never play it again. Clumps of grass all over the place, boulders sticking out of fairways. Very little sand in the bunkers and what was in there was riddled with small chips/stones. Doesn't say much for the committee if they accept this.

5 Played few courses round the area was taken round by the club pro Mr Hutt, some nice testing holes but being a 1st timer I must try harder to emulate Mr Hutts 62 course record.

5 I played this course last week, June 2014 and its a tip, the fairways are full of large rocks of which some are just under the surface. The greens were a mess and the bunkers had very little sand. I was told it was taken under the wing of the St Andrews Trust, what piffle.

5 has to be used for planting potatoes. could be ok but the upkeep is terrible. the poor i have rated the course is because of the condition not the layout.
