What the club says: The Aquarius Golf Club was founded in 1912. The 9 hole course was laid out on the roof and around Beechcroft Reservoir, which was completed in 1909. At the time it was Europe's largest under ground reservoir, still operational today and holding 55 million gallons of water. Competitions have been played at the Aquarius since 1913, with breaks for both World Wars. In 2007 the club was awarded the prestigious Golf Mark by the English Golf Union & English Women's Golf Ass. which identifies the club as one which has junior and beginner golf friendly facilities.

Possibly one of the most unusual golf courses in the World. Aquarius is laid out on an underground reservoir high above London with some amazing views of the City.
For a 9 hole course you get the driver out of the bag quite often. It's a mix of long open par 4 holes and tight par 3's. Given it's exposed location, the wind often comes into play and the openness of the course is deceptive. Being able to pick out your spot and knowing your distances is as important as any other course.
The 2nd/11th is a brilliantly urban hole. The Thames water pump house to the right and trees to the left make it a challenging approach that requires perfect execution to make the green in regulation, a great golf hole.
Perhaps the best thing about Aquarius is the friendliness of the member. The club has a small but didicated and active membership who are passionate about golf.
You will need to arrange a round with a member, there are no tee times and it's advisable to ensure you have golf insurance.

A unique, quirky course in SE London built atop of a reservoir with a spectacular view over Central London, this is well maintained members course, with wide, generally straightforward fairways and particularly fast greens, enjoyed today's round there on a bright, sunny day.

While the particularly steep banks of the reservoir offers a great view of London, there is a big challenge playing the ball up them and also on some holes it also makes it impossible to see some greens from the tee due to the steepness of the bank but as all of the holes are straight this doesn't cause too much of an issue and the course plays fairly throughout. This is a unique, urban members golf course in South-East London just be warned that you will encounter some seriously steep banks on your round!

Don't let the flat plateau fool you. 5 hole are blind. 9th hole runs along trees which act as a ball magnet. OOB on most holes mean you must be accurate throughout. Great pint in 19th hole.
