Gorgeous Views
As you drive into the car park you don't really get a feeling of the course on the other of the clubhouse, but walk around the other side and you'll see the undulating terrain that the course is built on. I think I worked out that 5 of the 9 holes have climbs involved, while it's only the last 3 that are flat. Something to consider if you have any issues with walking. It should be noted that the climbs are well worth the effort because this is one lovely looking 9 hole golf course, and the views are really gorgeous. Each of the holes have two sets of tees, and a few of them change the complexion of the hole. My favourite hole is the par 3 3rd/12th, which is either 125 or 176 yards from the yellows depending on which 9 you're on. The next hole is maybe the one you remember most though, with a big drop followed by a steep climb. That fairway is a lot further than it looks too.
This is certainly a course worth visiting, although if you have doubt about your stamina then maybe get a buggy.

Fantastic Greens
It's great to find an authentic Braid course. The Braid family centenary oak tree adorns the RHS of the first fairway. Beyond that lays a surprisingly long 2nd hole. The 3rd is a classic par 3 and the 4th must be one of the most challenging holes in Hampshire. The 5th glories in some magnificent views. Six presents the first of the McKenzie greens, the 7th and 8th host a further 2 McKenzie greens. The final of the 9 holes host a 300 year old Oak... and then you can treat yourself again but from different tees. Alton is indeed a hidden gem.Reviewer Rating

Great little club
Played against Alton in a winter league match the course was in good condition for the time of year and the clubhouse and 9 hole layout remined me of some of the 9 hole gems you find in the Scottish borders. It's a tricky 9 holer with two tees which subtly change the hole on 2nd time round. There's a nice practice area and the whole club atmosphere was welcoming and friendly... The tee boxes could do with some levelling out but this didn't detract from an enjoyable round.

Interesting 9 Hole in Hampshire HIllside
Pretty, hilly course in Hampshire. Just be aware, if you are the sort of golfer who likes to get to a course early before around to hit the range , chipping & bunker practise you will be disappointed as the practise facilities are minimal. The course its self will test your ability to play slopes and differing lies with the ball above and below the feet on a regular basis. I didnt really get to work my bag during the round so most holes are easy to reach in two if you hit the ball long. One negative i found was that the bunkers were not in great condition with many stones and poor sand quality.(Round played: Oct 2017 - Score: 91 Handicap: 17.3)
