While much of the golf course is laid out through pine forests, it also features gorgeous ocean views and distant mountain backdrops. Much of the course is an extension of the nature reserve of the Ria Formosa Estuary with fairways running alongside saltwater marshes and freshwater lagoons.

This protected environment is the habitat of more than 70 bird species, including herons, hoopoes, white storks, coots, black-winged stilts and the rare purple gallinule.
