For many of us throughout the UK, it was a summer of long, searingly hot days, with drought conditions transforming our courses, but despite the challenges that such a climate provides, the opportunities to play golf were plentiful and rewarding.
However, things are beginning to change. The nights are starting to draw in and you might now be reaching for extra layers when planning for your next round.
That said, you need to grasp the early autumn, it's a fabulous time of the year to play the game, and we'd encourage everyone to make the absolute most of the coming weeks before the hand of winter reaches out.

Covering such a large expanse of land, you are truly spoilt for choice in the south of England, but we'd like to start with the area near Bournemouth, where so many exceptional courses are found, including Isle of Purbeck, Parkstone, Broadstone, Ferndown, and Remedy Oak.
Travelling further west you could stay and play at Bowood, Woodbury Park, or The Dartmouth, while way across in East Anglia, you have Barnham Broom, Wensum Valley, and Sprowston Manor.
Departing north of London you will soon come across The Oxfordshire, The Costwolds Hotel & Spa, and Manor of Groves, but the south and west of the capital is rather good too, as that's where you will find Dale Hill, Old Thorns, Wokefield Estate, and Tudor Park.

The Midlands
Heading to the Midlands, and especially those venues that are within a relatively quick journey of Birmingham, Derby and Nottingham, you've got to start with iconic former home of the Ryder Cup, The Belfry, which continues to attract and embrace thousands of golfers each year.
Forest of Arden and Breadsall Priory have considerable pedigree too, while the likes of Telford, Forest Pines and The Warwickshire have a great deal to offer guests.

North of England
It seems that northern parts of England specialise in their stay and play golf break venues. There are so many converted old mansions in this region of the country. They provide superb accommodation and hospitality alongside a golf course (and perhaps even more than one) that you can enjoy on-site.
Oulton Hall, Kilnwick Percy, Aldwark Manor, and Hollins Hall are just some of the best hotspots within the vast landscape of Yorkshire, while Herons' Reach, Worsley Park, Shrigley Hall, and Mottram Hall are other places dotted across the north of England that come recommended and fully available at this time of year.

Scotland
It's hard to beat a visit to the home of golf and each corner of Scotland has so much to offer you this autumn. You could venture to the legendary west coast and experience the likes of Dundonald Links (we can personally recommend there), Gailes Links, Kilmarnock Barassie, and Irvine Bogside.
Just across the border you have Cardrona and The Roxburghe, both fabulous, but if you want to drive deep into the nation then Spey Valley boasts an enviable location in the heart of the Highlands.
But the eastern side of the country is truly special, including East Lothian, and that's where you can experience the likes of Gullane, North Berwick, Dunbar, Craigielaw, Longniddry and Kilspindie.
Further north, you could visit incredible locations such as St Andrews, Lundin, Murrayshall, and even Kingsbarns. Dream tee times are there for you to make a reality!
Wales
There is an underrated depth to the quality of golf courses in Wales. Starting in the south, near the likes of Cardiff, Swansea and Bridgend, you could tick off Ashburnham, Machynys Peninsula, Pennard, Southerndown, Pyle & Kenfig and even the internationally celebrated Royal Porthcawl, a former host of the Women's Open and Senior Open.
But if you'd prefer a more conventional resort offering, then you can't enjoy much better than The Vale, St Pierre, and 2010 Ryder Cup venue Celtic Manor.
You will also love what you can uncover further north. Including Royal St David's, Porthmadog, the dramatic Nefyn, Conwy, Maesdu, and North Wales.
That's a pretty impressive collection of options to pick from.
Northern Ireland
You will discover some wonderful resorts and venues within Northern Ireland. These include Lough Erne, Roe Valley and Galgorm.
