Visit Bom Sucesso in Lisbon For The Ultimate Golf Break

By: Liam Moore | Wed 30 Aug 2023

Through warm weather, golden beaches and a tantalising cuisine, Portugal is one of the most popular countries for an overseas golf break.

Dotted throughout the country are numerous brilliant golf courses, but did you know the capital is home to some of the very best?

Included in that list is the impressive Bom Sucesso, which is situated approximately 85 km from Lisbon Airport in Obidos.

The stunning tourist village contains lots of fun activities and at the height of their listings is the brilliant Bom Sucesso Golf Course.

Below, we delve deep into the resort and provide information on the accommodation options, golf course, gastronomy delights and other golf facilities that are located nearby.

Bom Sucesso Golf Course

Bom Sucesso Golf Course

The Bom Sucesso Golf Course is located on the premises of the resort and features a marvellous design that will test every element of your golf game.

Designed by the legendary Donald Steel, the layout extends across the length of the resort, bypassing villas, apartments and other leisure activities.

Due to the stunning setting and the gorgeous Obidos lagoon, a round at Bom Sucesso Golf Course features breathtaking views of the serene surrounding environment.

The first half of the routing features elevated terrain and picturesque views, whilst the latter nine is played with increased undulation.

Golfers will weave through a forest of Eucalyptus trees as they attempt to score low on the par-72 course that exceeds 600,000 square metres.

Interestingly, the construction of the layout was overseen by the chairman of the British Association of Golf Course Constructors, which ensures new projects are executed to the highest international standards.

The stunning resort is located by Obidos Lagoon - which resides next to the Atlantic Ocean - and features picturesque views golfers can only dream of.

Boasting a collection of contemporary townhouses, the 5* tourist village continues to be a popular location for travelling golfers.

All townhouses and villas are self-catering and they come equipped with kitchens, a dining area, walk-in closet and a private terrace with a garden.

They have been decorated in a lavish style with first-class furnishings and all offerings are spacious.

Whilst the accommodation options are self-catering, your party may not fancy cooking every night which is why there are a series of restaurants located conveniently.

Browns Restaurant is a great option and you will be able to either eat in or take your food away with you; the menu is a combination of international cuisine with a touch of Portuguese.

Alternatively, the Viva Maria Restaurant provides an exquisite taste of Italian cuisine and it is the best place to enjoy the beautiful views that the Obidos Lagoon conjures up on a daily basis.

Another eatery is the Maze Pizzeria. Plentiful pizzas, fresh salads and scrumptious desserts can be enjoyed throughout the day and evening.

Nearby Golf Courses

There are two additional golf destinations that are easily accessible from the premises, with the resort providing free shuttles to both locations.

The Royal Obidos Golf Course extends to 7,100 yards off the tips, which highlights the sort of challenge better players can expect.

Royal Obidos

Its challenge is present from the start with plenty of doglegs for golfers to contend with - being able to shape the ball both ways is a huge advantage here.

Furthermore, the remarkable clubhouse provides guests with mesmerising views; golfers can enjoy a post-round meal at the club’s own restaurant.

The alternative option is the Marriott Praia D’El Rey Golf & Country Club which is arguably home to two of the very best courses to reside in Portugal.

Praia D'El Rey

Firstly, the Praia D’El Rey Golf Course is regarded as one of the greatest golf courses that the country can offer.

Golfers can expect a hefty challenge but the alluring design of the layout is something that will be remembered fondly.

West Cliffs is the second course to be located at the resort and it is thought of as Europe’s number one new golf course, having only opened for play in 2017.

It is a pure links layout which runs alongside the stunning coast, providing golfers with awe-inspiring views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Considering its links style, golfers can expect a very difficult yet enjoyable round - in arguably one of the most beautiful settings to exist!

Why You Must Visit

Bom Sucesso

Through the unique village-like resort and brilliant facilities located there, Bom Sucesso continues to be a popular choice for travelling golfers.

Not only is Bom Sucesso Golf Course a brilliant experience of golf, but the nearby Marriott Praia D’El Ray Golf & Country Club is home to two of Europe’s very best.
