Experience The Majestic Anantara Villa Padierna

By: Liam Moore | Mon 07 Mar 2022

Spain’s Marbella has long been a popular hotspot for European tourists to enjoy holidays in the basking Mediterranean sun.

Marbella’s main attraction is its inviting climate, which completely dominates the summertime. Away from that, and there is a collection of beaches and bars to keep you occupied throughout the day.

What Marbella can also offer, however, is plentiful golfing facilities - and several sporting hubs in general.

Anantara Villa Padierna is located in the city of Marbella, and this 5* lavish hotel epitomises why we all desperately seek our next golf break: excitement.

In addition to its elegant characteristics, there are two renowned golf courses, a golfing academy, numerous gardens and an industry-leading spa all waiting to be discovered.

Below, we will detail all of the resort’s features and explain why a trip to Anantara Villa Padierna is not just recommended, but mandatory.

Golf Courses

Occasionally, a beautiful and award-winning hotel does not necessarily come equipped with similar quality golfing facilities.

It is fundamentally safe to say that Anantara Villa Padierna does not belong to that group. No, the golfing facilities help bolster the overall resort’s value - which should be music to the ears of golfers!

There are three golf courses that are located on-site, two championship routes and a shorter course that has been designed with the novice golfer in mind.

We’ll start with Flamingos Golf Club, which was designed by Antonio Garrido, who is also responsible for the alternative championship loop too.

Flamingos Golf Club

Flamingos is the resort's original course, so it holds special importance to everyone associated with the complex.

Comfortably one of the most picturesque settings for a game of golf on the Costa del Sol, Flamingos exudes brilliance from the 1st to the 18th tee - it’s really that good.

Some of the standout vistas from this course are the Mediterranean stretch, which will enable views as far as Gibraltar and even Africa.

From a performance perspective, you can expect generous sizing of greens but the fairways are slender and thus, place a particular emphasis on accuracy.

This layout has hosted the European Senior Tour and the Women’s Spanish Open and if it’s good enough for the professionals, you know you’re going to be in for a treat when experiencing this fine and challenging golf course.

Alferini Golf Club

Alferini is unique, as it’s one of only a select few golf courses that boasts a par of 73 on the Costa del Sol.

Similarly to Flamingos, it was designed by Antonio Garrido and it can best be characterised as a stern challenge amidst a peaceful setting.

Set in a verdant valley that is completely surrounded by mountains, this is exactly how golf should be played.

Whilst it’s very possible to be distracted by the impressive environment, it is vitally important you remain focused as demanding length and accuracy is needed to survive Alferini.

Boasting elongated fairways and wide greens, Alferini is an excellent choice and one that should be experienced by all.

Tramores

Tramores is the final golf course that is linked to the resort, and if you’re looking for a more peaceful and relaxed approach, then this is the loop for you.

It is ideal for beginners, so if you are taking someone unfamiliar with golf, then Tramores can provide the perfect environment to trial the game of golf.

Measuring only 3,468 metres, it is extremely short in length, but accuracy will be just as important as the more renowned layouts.

It is set between two valleys and you enjoy wonderful views of the Mediterranean Sea. Also, the Michael Campbell Golf Academy is located here, helping golfers to improve their understanding and ability.

Accommodation

Now that we have covered the golfing experience, let’s discuss the complex’s accommodation options, and there are quite a few rooms to help accommodate many travelling golfers.

In total, there are 132 spacious rooms that have been designed to induce relaxation, in addition to boasting a contemporary and stylish design.

Of the 132 rooms, guests will be able to book guestrooms, suites or villas and there are actually over 1,200 pieces of art scattered across the resort to further augment the class.

Each room comes equipped with sensational views of either the expansive gardens, the Andalusian mountains or the greens from one of the three golf courses from private terraces.

Considering its 5* standing, the rooms all contain marvellous furnishings and they also include a TV, free Wi-Fi and a mini-bar for that much desired nightcap.

Gastronomy

Anatara

Again, this resort is not 5* for no reason, and the eating options on-site highlight its worthiness of its excellent rating.

There are three restaurants to choose from: La Loggia, Hole 55 and 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant - all offering something a little different to improve choice.

La Loggia is the king for Mediterranean cuisine, and you can experience some of the finest tasting dishes that have been sourced locally and finely selected.

Hole 55 takes a more relaxed approach to dining and offers an atmosphere that has been specifically provided for golfers; the eating experience is further bolstered here with superb panoramic views of the golf course and lake.

The 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant specialises in Avant-garde Japanese cuisine, which offers the most unique of settings.

For any English golfers, the hotel has its own English bar in Eddy’s Bar, featuring a healthy array of beverages in addition to serving light snacks throughout operating hours.

Finally, the hotel is loosely linked with The Sea Beach Club, that is situated only three minutes away from the complex.

Free sunbeds are available for resort guests and a shuttle bus is provided if you are staying at the hotel.

Spa

Although predominantly a golfing resort, Anantara Villa Padierna can provide numerous avenues of entertainment away from the course or range.

There is a large outdoor pool to help you unwind and relax or, alternatively, you can visit the 2,000 square metre thermal spa.

It features a heated indoor pool, two saunas, six steam rooms and 10 treatment rooms all with the vision of promoting blissful feelings.

Furthermore, there is a fitness studio and a Racquets club that are available for usage for any hotel guest.

The resort of Antara Villa Padierna is much more than a lavish hotel or a collection of immense golf courses.

The combination of golf, alternative activities, excellent hospitality and an innovative spa is what makes this complex so alluring.

Thankfully, our friends at Golfbreaks offer bookings to this Marbella resort, and you can check out all the latest deals here.
