Discover the Golf Holiday of a Lifetime in Marbella

By: Golfshake Editor | Thu 17 Sep 2020

Part of the spectacular Costa del Sol, Marbella is a hugely popular destination in southern Spain, drawing holidaymakers and golfers each year.

There is much to choose from, but one effective way to experience this stunning region is by staying in style at the Los Monteros Spa & Golf Resort Hotel, a magnificent 5* venue that offers the unforgettable golf holiday of a lifetime. Guests at this resort can play 20 golf courses in the area, which are easily accessed courtesy of a shuttle bus service that will take you to the first tee.

Showcasing a selection of comfortable double rooms, from deluxe to royal suites, scenic views of the surrounding landscape will greet you each day. Vistas of the Mediterranean Sea will also enhance your dining at the beach club restaurant, La Cabane, while Los Monteros also offers an acclaimed spa that represents the perfect place to unwind after a day of golf.

The Golf Courses

Located in the heart of the famous Golf Mile, Los Monteros is an ideal base to discover the magic of this coastline. Among the layouts you can sample is Lauro, a 27-hole parkland design set 1,000 feet above sea level, which meanders through beautiful cork, oak, olive and citrus trees and features several water hazards that will test visiting golfers.

Los Lagos was one of the first courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in Spain, noted for its length, many hazards and considerably wide fairways. Set within a valley near the Mediterranean, Santa Maria provides stunning views throughout, while the Marbella Golf and Country Club flows through olive groves and hills.

Practically every hole at Chaparral Golf Club overlooks the sea, with undulating terrain and native pine trees ensuring great variety, while the tropical feeling Torrequebrada is blessed with further incredible views of the water.

Set on a former avocado plantation, Santana has wide and well-defined fairways, while Cabopino is situated in the hills above the marina. Los Naranjos is a Robert Trent Jones Sr. design with two very different nine-hole loops, one being open and the other with tight fairways lined with orange trees.

El Paraiso was designed by the legendary Gary Player and features lush fairways flanked by palm trees and meandering streams. Rio Real is a stunning course that sits in a majestic valley, while the Cabell B. Robinson design, Valle Romano Golf Club is known for its large greens.

Los Olivos stands out because of its smaller greens with more slope, well defended by bunkers, rewarding accuracy, while Santa Clara Golf Club is a natural and distinctive layout.

These courses can all be played during your stay at Los Monteros.

The Venue

Located just three miles from downtown Marbella, Los Monteros is positioned only 600 metres from the spectacular golden sand beaches that embrace the warm waters of the Sea. How good does that sound?

Each of the rooms come complete with air conditioning, minibar and a chance to gaze across the setting. Alongside the aforementioned La Cabane, dining options at the resort include Bar Azul, which offers a snack menu available at lunch and dinner, and the El Corzo Restaurant - renowned for being the first hotel establishment in Spain to receive the Michelin Star - that serves sophisticated Spanish and international cuisine.

Within the spa at Los Monteros, you can sample a series of thermal body therapy treatments, facials and massages. The facilities include humid zones, a hammam, Turkish bath, contrast showers, sauna and a hydro massage pool. The range of treatments and spa facilities on offer make this a wonderful place to relax.

Conclusion

When you consider the majesty of the region, the quality of the golf courses available, and the serenity of the accommodation, it's hard to argue against Los Monteros being a destination that should be an essential addition to your must visit list in the future.
