Forest Pines Stay & Play Report

By: Andrew Picken | Wed 14 Aug 2019

Article by Golfshake Ambassador Andrew Picken

Forest Pines is a DoubleTree By Hilton venue, a luxury golf and country club hotel situated within its own beautiful 190 acres located just off junction 4 of the M180 in North Lincolnshire.

Golfshake members have reviewed Forest Pines so positively that it's rated Highly Recommended with a 97% rating. Those views were supported by the glowing assessment of Richard Moore's Feature Review, who stated that Forest Pines: "Was one of the best I have played. Parts of the heathland Forest course reminded me of North Hants, and some of the pine tree-lined holes are like Bearwood Lakes - which are both exceptional."

This in itself is a valuable recommendation that the visiting golfer will receive top quality service at an acclaimed venue.

Reading these opinions, I was thrilled to have the pleasure of visiting the resort. The hotel is one of the region's premier hotels with extensive facilities including 188 luxury en-suite bedrooms, 18 metre swimming pool, gymnasium, beauty spa, function rooms and 27 holes of tremendous golf.

The Facilities

There has been substantial investment in both the hotel and golf and country club by the DoubleTree by Hilton brand following their recent acquisition of the site, which has only enhanced an already superb destination.

It provides everything that you would expect from the Hilton brand in respect of quality but still manages to remain friendly and hospitable at all times. The rooms and suites are extremely comfortable having benefited from those upgrades.

The swimming pool and hot tub are also the sort of facilities that would be of interest to all visitors but in particular those relaxing after a testing round of golf.

Accessibility

The hotel has an excellent location easily accessed by a number of arterial road routes. Lincoln is within easy distance if the golf and sporting facilities do not hold an attraction. This historic city is well worth a visit particularly when its world-renowned Christmas market is being held.

Free car parking is provided during the stay but please ensure that you take the time to register your vehicle when checking in using the desk top devices. It only takes a couple of minutes and will avoid any later problems.

Accommodation & Restaurants

I had the opportunity to sample both the superb quality accommodation and the excellent food provided in the restaurant facilities. The Eighteen57 restaurant is a contemporary dining area, ideal for couples; The Grill offers a more relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy your evening meal, and The Pines Bar overlooks the golf course.

The spa and fitness centre with gymnasium workout room is also an exemplary facility that can be accessed when taking a residential stay.

Review

I cannot disagree with any of the reviews that have been provided. It is a difficult place to criticise when they are so geared up to the needs of the visiting golfer; be that as an individual or within a society.

I wholeheartedly recommend this venue and if you are a society organiser or a club captain looking to identify a venue for a group of golfers, I would strongly urge you to look at this venue. I’m certain that you will not be disappointed.
