The best Christmas golf gifts you won't have considered before

Share

With Christmas fast approaching, we head towards that dreaded moment when someone you love hands you over a gift with that look of excitement in their eyes - only for you to have to mask the disappointment of receiving something that you probably won't use, will get ribbed by your friends for having, or even worse, chuck straight in the bin. We've all been there.

So, I have put together a list that you can share with your friends or family, print off and leave around for someone to 'find' or, even better, send to someone and get them to pick from.

Everything on the list is £50 or under - apart from an extra treat at the bottom.

So, without further ado, let's get into the list that has been put together by a golfer, for a golfer.

(Please note, all prices are not including any delivery costs).

MGP - Taster Box (£15.00)

Taster Box

MGP Nutrition have long been established in the golf space for some time. They now have a nice range of hydration drinks that have been specifically designed for golfers, by golfers.

There may be nothing worse than buying a case of 24 drinks only for someone to not like a particular flavour (although I can vouch, every single flavour is amazing!).

The Taster Box gives golfers the chance to try one bottle of each flavour from the Hydration range in order to see which one their favourite is to purchase again going forward.

A little think outside the (Taster) box gift idea, if you ask me - see what I did there?

The Secret Tour Caddy Book (£14.24)

Secret Tour Caddy Book

I know most people would lean towards instruction books for golfers and I get it, I really do. I own pretty much every Bob Rotella book - and read them all.

But no book has been read quicker and with more interest be me than this one.

We don’t know who the caddie or player is, the geeks amongst us could probably set up some spreadsheet and narrow it down. But from cover to cover it gives a really good light-hearted insight into what life as a DP World Tour caddie looks like. From travel, hotels, costing and the inner workings of the world of golf from another perspective. Honestly, I couldn’t put this book down and have read it again since.

Alphanine Golf Glove Case (£29.99)

Golf Glove Case

I found these guys via Instagram and their product instantly caught my eye.

I can only imagine how much money we spend as golfers each year on gloves. Take them off, chuck them in the bag, screwed up and don't end up lasting very long.

If like me, you or the golfer in your life keep the cardboard sleeve in the bag and puts the glove back in each and every time, then this might be the product for you.

These swanky real leather golf glove cases hold four gloves and some accessories, meaning glove lifespan and ease of rotation between rounds and practice is so much more practical going forward, which has been a real great addition to my golfing accessories.

GolfInk Markers (£27.99)

GolfInk Markers

Another Instagram find - and a company that has a solution for a problem I didn't know I had!

GolfInk Markers have developed a marker pen to be used for either drawing a line on your ball, or other identification marks, but, unlike any I have used before, these actually last.

Fade resistant ink that lasts round after round, in all types of weather, no more do I have to stop after every six or seven holes to reapply my line.

It comes in four different colours, Black, Red, Blue and Green - but the four-pack offer allows you to select any four you wish and is also pure genius for maximum value for money.

FutureRetroGolf Personalised Leather Course Guide Cover (£19.99)

Leather Course Guide Cover

Ok, let me make one thing clear. There is a difference between a course guide holder/cover and a scorecard holder. Scorecard holders open one way, a course planner opens the other.

However, you can use a course guide holder with a scorecard, but it's a faff trying to use a scorecard holder with a course planner. It just doesn’t work.

I went in search of a course guide holder as I still like to buy one, use them, keep them and I know many other golfers do too.

After extensive searching, I stumbled across these guys on Etsy as it was the only one I could find that ticked all my boxes. You can personalise these too, and that will push it into the higher price category, but now they are sitting firmly in the under £30 bracket. Unreal quality and design. The quality leather cover is also one of a long list of fantastic items on off from the guys at FutureRetroGolf.

What about booking them a golf lesson?

If your budget allows you to stretch to £50 for the golfer in your life, then my best advice would be to book a lesson with a local PGA Professional.

If you know the club he or she is a member of, give the pro shop a call and ask for some help, professionals are great people and will be more than happy to help.

If you are unsure of where the golfer in your life plays, then have a look on their bag, there may well be a member tag somewhere.

If he or she isn't a member, then just find the most local course, or one you know they visit and give them a call.

They may already have a professional you know they visit, if you don’t, ask some questions, do a bit of digging, they will probably love the fact you are going to that length or just in general, showing interest

There isn't a golfer on the planet that doesn't have something he or she wants to get better at, and I think this is about as thoughtful as it comes.

A golf advent calendar unlike any other

Golf Advent Calendar

If you are stuck on an advent calendar for the golfer in your life, then the guys at FutureRetroGolf have this year introduced a 12-day and 24-day golf advent calendar.

The beauty of this, however, is it isn't the usual generic stuff you might find in other golf related advent calendars. Most items in the calendar are personalised with either names or initials making it a perfect early surprise on the 1st of December.
