Two keen golfers have the most incredible iron fitting experience
Two passionate golfers recently joined Golfshake in Scotland for an experience that any keen player would dream about.
Intrigued to discover just how much difference new bespoke irons could make to their games, Chris Eidukas and Tom Leach embarked on long trips north to the fabulous Dundonald Links in Ayrshire, where they had the opportunity to undergo an iron fitting overseen by our Equipment Expert Ryan Rastall and experienced club builder Scott Clelland, a PGA Advanced Fellow Professional, who works for Wilson Golf and fits players on the DP World Tour.
What made this even more special was that afterwards, the guys had the privilege of being invited to the nearby Wilson factory in Irvine, where they had a tour of the remarkable facility and saw their new irons being literally crafted and put together before their own eyes.
If that wasn't enough, Chris and Tom soon had the sparkling new irons (specifically tailored for them) in their hands to take on the outstanding Kyle Phillips design at Dundonald, a modern classic links that has staged both the Scottish Open and Women's Scottish Open, in addition to also holding the distinction of being an Open Qualifying venue.
There is a reason why we called this campaign #TheJourney - and it's one that Chris and Tom are both thrilled to have taken.
Keen Golfers Fitted With New Wilson Irons

Reflecting on the experience, Chris, a golfer in his early 40s ready for his first ever fitting, said: "My journey started early on the Monday, travelling from Manchester to Ayrshire, I stopped halfway in Annan to play the last 18 holes with my existing irons at Powfoot, the course was in good condition following the winter and the greens were exceptional. The perfect farewell.
"I then travelled onward to Ayrshire and stayed in a local hotel to make the morning of the fitting a lot easier.
"Once I arrived at Dundonald on the Tuesday morning, the whole experience exceeded my expectations. I first spent time on the range to warm up before my fitting with both Ryan and Scott from Wilson, which was something I had never been involved with before.
"Following a number of balls being hit and some swapping and changing of the shafts, it was decided that the Wilson DYNAPWR Forged irons with Dynamic Gold 115 shafts were the clubs for me and it was soon off to the factory, a short drive away, to see them being made.

"Having been made to feel extremely welcome by all the staff, we had a tour of a huge facility seeing all the products Wilson manufacture, balls being stamped, embroidery of items, and finally our clubs being picked, prepared and made in front of our eyes.
"We were then presented with our irons and went back to Dundonald for a fantastic meal, a few drinks and then a comfy night sleep in luxurious surroundings."
Touring Wilson Golf's Factory in Scotland

Tom, who ventured all the way from Essex, left his two days in Scotland with unforgettable memories.
"From the moment I arrived it was a great experience at Dundonald’s amazing grass range and facilities. At the fitting, Scott was first class in putting me at ease, working through the different options to explain the effects and tweaking the setup bit by bit until I had something I was happy with in grip, shaft and clubhead combination.
"The Wilson factory tour was a golf nerd's dream. The access we had; being able to see all the ins and outs of an actual working factory, then getting to pick our components that would then be built into our own clubs right in front of us was really cool. To be able to see all of the work and equipment that goes into creating and getting out top quality golf gear was so interesting.
"The restaurant and rooms at Dundonald were absolutely lovely as well which was much needed after a long day!"
Playing Dundonald Links With Their New Clubs

Now equipped with their new irons, Chris and Tom were up bright and early on the Wednesday morning to play Dundonald Links in blustery, challenging conditions, the perfect test for their now enhanced shot-making skills.
And there was a further treat from Scott at Wilson - as Chris recalls.
"We were greeted at the first tee with another surprise, a 60-degree wedge with my initials stamped on it. This was unexpected and a brilliant start to what was a true reflection of everything I love about links golf, the course is fantastic."
Tom was also thrilled by this bonus. "It doesn’t get much better than being the first tee time out at Dundonald with brand new clubs the next day. Despite still getting used to the irons, I was able to play some really nice shots and they felt unbelievable when I found the middle. Scott then meeting us out on the course with a bonus custom-stamped lob wedge was pretty special - the icing on the cake to a perfect two days."
The Journey Has Only Just Begun

During the coming weeks and throughout the season, you will see further content and videos as we track the progress of Chris and Tom as they continue on #TheJourney in 2026.
The final word goes to Chris, a man with the lifetime mission to play hundreds of the best courses in Great Britain, who commented: "Throughout the days we were involved in multiple content pieces and I felt very comfortable being guided by Ryan, who is not only a golf pro at Howley Hall near Leeds, but a pro in front of the camera as well.
"It was a trip and experience of a lifetime and I can't thank Wilson, Darren and Kieran at Golfshake, and Ryan enough for allowing me to get involved, to be furnished with a new set of irons and to experience Dundonald Links, which was exceptional.
"Now all that is left to do is start my own journey and play with the irons and hopefully play more and play better."
It's a journey that shall have many more chapters to come, but for these two dedicated golfers, this beginning will always remain fondly recalled.
