The golf season is almost here and that means it's time to plan your schedule for the months ahead.

Many of you will be booking rounds across the land to experience some of the finest layouts that this country has to offer, while the more competitive minded among you should be searching for opportunities to enter open events.

There are numerous obvious benefits to participating in a competition like this. It's a clear way to improve your game, as playing a variety of courses with a card in hand will refine your skills, these events are often fantastic value for money, and they can be great social occasions too.

For those golfers who want to combine playing great venues with a competitive flair, then you really ought to give an open tournament a go this year if you haven't already. You owe that to yourself.

However, we believe that there is an even better solution in the form of Amateur Golf Events, which provides golfers with the chance to experience some exceptional courses in an environment that creates a memorable and fabulous day out.

Managed by a small team and supported by leading partners from across the golf industry, the organisers state: "Whether you are a seasoned player chasing a new challenge or someone who simply enjoys the camaraderie of the game, our events are designed to provide the perfect blend of competition and community."

If that sounds like a tantalising prospect to you, then please read on for everything you need to know.

What You Can Expect From Amateur Golf Events

Moortown

(Moortown)

When you enter one of the Amateur Golf Events tournaments, the format is pairs betterball stableford with a WHS handicap allowance of 85%. That means you can submit an entry with a partner, while solo golfers are accepted and will be paired up with other individual players.

Juniors aged between 14 and 18 can participate too - providing they have an adult partner.

There are numerous prizes available for individual achievements on the day (longest drives, etc), while those pairs who finish from 2nd to 5th place will be rewarded from the over £2,000 worth of prizes available per event.

Should you top the leaderboard on the day, you will be entered into the Grand Final to be played later in the year - where a truly special prize will be on offer.

Golfers who participate will receive a welcome gift and take advantage of a halfway refreshment stop, with the dedicated Amateur Golf Events team on hand to ensure that your day is an unforgettable one.

How Good Are The Golf Courses?

Woodhall Spa

(Woodhall Spa)

Simply put, Amateur Golf Events is set to visit some of the greatest layouts that you could dream of playing, encompassing all manner of course styles - from links, heathland to parkland - and design eras from true classics to modern masterpieces that are growing in stature.

These include the likes of The Grove - a true must visit - and The London Club. Lovers of seaside golf will be excited to play St Annes Old Links, while destinations such as Moortown, Ganton, West Hill and Royal Ashdown Forest are quintessential English creations.

Woodhall Spa is comfortably a top 100 venue, with Cleeve Hill a unique place that will delight those golfing purists out there.

Considering that prices start at £39.00 per person, with the most expensive event being just £169.00, it demonstrates that this is a highly affordable opportunity to play a supreme course in a professional but fun setup with the chance for glory at hand too.

It's clear to see why Amateur Golf Events is so popular - and that reputation will only continue to grow.
