Callaway Quantum vs TaylorMade Qi4D - which driver is better?
The golf equipment world is a highly competitive space as the leading manufacturers work tirelessly to find an edge over each other - which is a battle that is no more fiercely contested than when it comes to producing the latest drivers.
For 2026, the TaylorMade Qi4D is a standout option, with its tour model being favoured by the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, but we shouldn't discount the new Callaway Quantum family, which hugely impressed Golfshake's Equipment Expert, Ryan Rastall, who has tested and reviewed both groups of drivers extensively in recent weeks.
But how do they compare to each other?
Callaway Quantum Drivers

These are available in five models: Max, Max D, Triple Diamond, Triple Diamond Max, and Max Fast, although the latter is not an option for golfers in the UK & Ireland.
But across the spectrum, those who put a Quantum driver in their bag can take advantage of Callaway's intriguing Tri-Force Face that has been designed to provide exceptional speed and distance levels. This is due to the fact that Tri-Force has successfully layered three materials - Titanium, Poly Mesh, and Carbon Fiber - together into a fully integrated speed system.
Uniting the ultra-thin, high-strength Titanium with the Poly Mesh and Carbon Fiber has delivered faster speeds and a reinforced face structure that allows for greater flex.
Callaway’s next-generation Ai modelling has precisely tuned the face, meaning that golfers can expect optimised speed, launch and spin consistency.

TaylorMade Qi4D Drivers

Consisting of the Qi4D, Qi4D LS, Qi4D Max and Qi4D Max Lite drivers, this is an intriguing release by TaylorMade, and what underpins them is the carbon face, which is lighter than titanium. That has allowed engineers to efficiently produce more speed.
The faces also boast a reengineered roll radius that provides more consistent levels of spin across the entire face. This means that there is less of a difference in spin rates between shots struck low and high versus the centre of the face.
You can also experience a new and improved cut-through Speed Pocket that heightens flexibility across the bottom of the face, showcasing faster ball speeds on areas of the face where players commonly strike shots.
The Qi4D drivers also deploy TaylorMade’s 60x Carbon Twist Face design. The is a corrective face curvature with less loft in the heel and more loft in the toe that helps golfers to achieve tighter downrange dispersion on mishits.

Driver Head-to-Head Testing
Having tested these two groups of drivers individually, Ryan was keen to discover how they compared head-to-head on Trackman.
Ryan breaks down how they look at address, the sound and feel of the clubs, in addition to the essential launch monitor data that tracks key performance metrics including ball speed, launch, spin, carry, total distance and dispersion. His comparison consists of two leading models from each brand with the TaylorMade Qi4D Core and Qi4D LS versus Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond and Quantum Max.
Which is better? Let's find out!
