Major enhancements coming to Quinta da Marinha
Quinta da Marinha, the popular hotel and golf resort complex at Cascais near Lisbon is to close its main hotel in December for a complete refit to its bedrooms and public areas.
The £4m investment follows a franchise deal between the resort’s Portuguese owners The Onyria Group, and IHG Hotels & Resorts.
The main 198 room hotel, three restaurants and spa will re-open afresh in February, rebranded as Kimpton Quinta da Marinha Cascais.
The Onyria Group, owned by the Pinto Coelho family, will maintain full operational control of the hotel and its other holdings on site.
This includes its 72 room boutique hotel and 38 villas, which themselves were rebranded as the Onyria Marinha Cascais Vignette Collection in the summer of 2025.
A firm favourite for golfers from the UK and all over Europe for years, serving groups, couples and small mixed parties of friends, Quinta da Marinha is ideally placed for golfers and those wanting to explore Cascais, Lisbon and the Sintra National Park.

The Robert Trent Jones Snr course will also see a number of improvements including work to the bunkers and tees.
Despite getting an annual battering from scores of golfers throughout the year it remains popular and is flat enough to walk.
It is enjoyed by all standards of golfers, but is by no means easy. Some tight fairways, lined by pines, require straight tee shots. The greens are generally in very good condition and the fairways are firm.
Favourite holes on the opening stretch are the excellent par 3 5th and the double dogleg 6th. The back nine features a trio of consecutive holes that will test everybody. 13 is long and downhill and a ball to the right will find its way to the bottom of a rugged ravine. The following hole is a blind par 3 over the same ravine before the short par 4 14th which in my opinion is the best hole on the course.
There are plenty of nearby courses too, making Quinta da Marinha a worthy base for a golfing holiday in one of the finest destinations in Europe.
