Callaway is celebrated for its wedges and the new Opus SP is set to be hugely popular with both tour pros and amateurs alike.

These have been engineered to deliver a lower ball flight, increased spin, and maximum control, which has been made possible by the introduction of a new Spin Pocket alongside advanced construction, refined face groove technology, and tour-preferred shaping, which comes together to create what is designed to be the ultimate short game scoring tool.

Golfshake's Equipment Expert, Ryan Rastall, the Head Pro at Howley Hall Golf Club in Leeds, has reviewed the new wedges for us, describing the technology and seeing just how well they perform. You can discover more by watching below or directly on YouTube.

Callaway Opus SP Wedges - Review

Let's now take a closer look at what you should know about the wedges.

Callaway Opus SP Wedges - What You Need to Know

Callaway Opus SP Wedges

These wedges benefit from a re-engineered 2-piece construction head design that strategically reshapes mass to optimise CG locations. The Spin Pocket redistributes weight higher, raising the CG, and promoting a lower, more penetrating launch. The result is more spin and enhanced control, especially when you need to flight shots or attack tight pins.

Opus SP has already drawn acclaim with tour players. In fact, there were 32 in play at the Scottish Open. Xander Schauffele, Jon Rahm, Akshay Bhatia, Min Woo Lee, Thomas Detry, Rasmus Hojgaard and Nicolai Hojgaard are all among the list of players who have Opus SP in the bag.

It also boasts the most advanced face in Opus history. A new 17° groove angle with tighter pitch spacing provides more groove edge contact for more consistent spin across a variety of lies. Combined with a deeper cross-hatch laser pattern across the face, Spin Gen 2.0 produces enhanced friction for more bite and stopping power on all types of approach shots.

Opus SP has a clean, confident look at address, Shape 6 offers precise leading edge shaping and refined sole geometry. Shape 6 is the sixth and final iteration in the Opus prototype shaping phase. Opus SP introduces progressive shaping in gap wedges to seamlessly blend with modern iron sets - creating a more cohesive setup from top to bottom.
