10 Picks to Win The US Open 2024

By: | Mon 10 Jun 2024

The US Open returns to storied Pinehurst No. 2 for the third men's major championship of the year, and it promises to be a classic as a cast of leading contenders attempt to wrestle the title away from the clutches of the dominant Scottie Scheffler.

Golfshake's Derek Clements has picked out ten players who he believes could win - and there might be a couple of surprises in there.

Jason Day

The Australian is back to his best after making swing changes that take the strain off his back. He remains a wonderful ball striker and if he holes a few putts can still win anywhere, on any course.

Scottie Scheffler

Enjoying an absolutely dominant season. The Masters champion looks like winning every time he tees it up and it would be a huge surprise if he were not to contend again this week.

Collin Morikawa

Collin Morikawa

Will really fancy his chances at Pinehurst after making decent runs at both The Masters and the PGA Championship. There is no better iron player in the game. It all hinges on his putting.

Max Homa

The American is impressive in everything he does. He has had a quiet season thus far but the harder the course the better Homa seems to play - and he is due a major victory.

Tommy Fleetwood

The Englishman has a wonderful record in the majors without yet being able to get across the winning line. Has yet to win in America but it would surprise nobody if he were to triumph at Pinehurst.

Rory McIlroy

It is 10 years and counting since the Northern Irishman won the last of his four majors - and that simply isn’t good enough. He must get off to a good start - and he has to drive well to have any chance.

Ludvig Aberg

Finished second at The Masters in his maiden major but got something of a wake-up call when he missed the cut at the PGA. But Aberg will shrug that off and move on.

Bryson DeChambeau

Pinehurst is unlikely to be a course that DeChambeau can overpower, so expect to see him playing it safe from a few tees, If he fails to do then his challenge is surely doomed.

Keegan Bradley

I have been very impressed with Bradley’s play over the past couple of years. Still infuriatingly slow, but the former PGA champion is a world-class golfer and Pinehurst should suit his game.

Xander Schauffele

One of the most consistent players in the game and has finally got that monkey off his back by landing his first major. It could be the catalyst for more. He does everything really well.
