Yannik Paul Player Profile And What's In The Bag

By: | Mon 24 Oct 2022

YANNIK Paul secured his maiden DP World Tour title after a dramatic finish to the Mallorca Golf Open.

Paul birdied the last to post a one-over 72 at Son Muntaner Golf Club and end the week on 15 under, a shot ahead of fellow German Nicolai von Dellinghausen and England's Paul Waring.

Dale Whitnell shared fourth spot with overnight co-leader Ryan Fox, while Marcus Armitage squandered a two-shot lead over the final three holes to finish three strokes back in tied-sixth.

"I couldn't have dreamed of a better ending, so I'm over the moon," Paul said. "To finish like this is obviously a dream come true - I couldn't have asked for any better. I'm speechless, I'm just so happy.”

Player Profile

Paul was born in Germany in March 1994 and is a twin. His brother, Jeremy, is also a professional golfer.

He finished second in Germany's National School Team Championships in 2011 and 2012. Paul played golf at the University of Colorado from 2013-2018. He made history in 2016 when he and his twin brother Jeremy became the first pair of twins to play in the same European Tour event at the BMW International Open in their native Germany.

Paul turned pro in 2018 and played on the Challenge Tour in 2021, finishing ninth in the Race to Mallorca to gain his DP World Tour card. He has played consistently well throughout 2022, finishing second at the Soudal Open and eighth at the Open de Espana and at the French Open.

He averages 304 yards from the tee, hits 55% of fairways and 69.60% of greens in regulation. He averages 29.30 putts per round and gets up and down from the sand 51.11% of the time.

His victory in Mallorca took him to 20th place in the DP World Tour rankings and 139th in the world rankings.
