Robert MacIntyre What's in The Bag 2025
Article Updated - October 2025
RYDER Cup hero Robert Macintrye completed a dream few days by winning the weather-affected Dunhill Links Championship in superb fashion on home soil.
In the process he became the first Scottish winner since 2005. Fresh from playing a huge part in Luke Donald's side's famous win at Bethpage Black, MacIntyre returned to Scotland to take on Carnoustie, Kingsbarns and The Old Course.
With the tournament reduced to 54 holes after weather interruptions on Friday and Saturday, MacIntyre played his third and final round on The Old Course and recorded six birdies over the first 13 holes to move five strokes at the top of the leaderboard.
He then mixed a birdie at the 16th with a bogey on the 17th before a tap-in par on the last to sign for a 66 and set the clubhouse target at 18 under par.
The Scot faced an anxious wait as several players in the chasing pack made their way down the stretch but nobody was able to catch him and, around 90 minutes after holing his final putt, he was able to celebrate a four-shot victory and his fourth DP World Tour title.
MacIntyre's Ryder Cup team-mate Tyrrell Hatton finished alone in second on 14 under after a 65 on The Old Course, with South Africa's Richard Sterne and Englishman John Parry another shot back.
MacIntyre said: "Unbelievable. Any time you can win a golf tournament on these shores is special. But I'm just delighted with the way I've done it. I have played really nice over the three days and here we are.
"I don't know how we're going to celebrate after the celebration we had last Sunday! We'll try our best. I don't know if it'll be tonight but it'll be over the next couple of weeks. We'll have a nice celebration. Any time you can win, it's difficult to win. It's just a beautiful ending to a good week."
Harrison Crowe and Cian Foley won the team event on 33 under par following scores of 62, 58 and 63 across the three rounds.

Player Profile
Robert MacIntyre was born in Oban in August 1996. In 2013 he won both the Scottish Youths Championship and the Scottish Boys Open Stroke-Play Championship. He won the Scottish Amateur in 2015 and in 2016 he lost 2&1 in the final of the Amateur Championship. MacIntyre represented Scotland in the Eisenhower Trophy in 2016 and played in the Walker Cup the following year. He turned professional in 2017 and played on the Challenge Tour in 2018, gaining his DP World Tour card. In 2019 he was twice runner-up and was sixth in The Open and was named rookie of the year.
In November 2020 he won his maiden DP World Tour title, the Aphrodite Hills Cyprus Showdown.
After what had been a poor season in 2022 he won the Italian Open.
But he had a consistent year in 2023, losing the Scottish Open to Rory McIlroy by a single shot. He played well enough throughout the year to gain one of the PGA Tour cards on offer. It was a struggle initially and he missed three of his first four cuts in America. But he was tied sixth at the Mexico Open in February, tied 13th at the Myrtle Beach Classic and tied eighth at the US PGA Championship.
He admitted that he was homesick and was not enjoying life on the PGA Tour but that all changed when he won the Canadian Open.
In July he went one better, winning the Scottish Open in dramatic and emotional circumstances.
In June 2025 he finished second to JJ Spaun at the US Open after the American holed a huge putt on the final green.
MacIntyre played a key part in Europe’s Ryder Cup victory at Bethpage Black.
Remarkably, MacIntyre has only won four times on the DP World Tour - in Cyprus in 2020, in France two years later, at the Scottish Open in 2024 and now at the Dunhill Links Championship.
