Titleist Releases New TruFeel & Velocity Golf Balls

By: Golfshake Editor | Mon 07 Feb 2022

For 2022, Titleist has enhanced its golf ball offering by releasing a redesigned TruFeel and new Velocity, which have both been engineered to deliver greater distances than ever before.

Already its softest golf ball, Titleist Golf Ball R&D was able to deliver the enhancements to TruFeel by engineering a larger and faster core along with high-performance aerodynamics to deliver longer distance. A thinner, reformulated TruFlex cover provides the improved feel and control for shots around the green.

Frederick Waddell, Director of Golf Ball Product Management, said: “The TruFeel golfer is primarily focused on long and soft, but also seeks overall performance. That is where TruFeel stands out in its category, where the golfer doesn’t have to sacrifice performance and can trust the quality and consistency of Titleist."

Adding to that, Mike Madson, Director of Aerodynamics and Research Engineering, commented: “The new 1.600” core is very large for such a soft golf ball. By adding more fast rubber to the golf ball, we add more speed for distance, but we also needed to balance the increased core size by reformulating a slightly thinner cover. The result is softer feel, and similar spin with more speed for longer distance.”

Every TruFeel golf ball is made at Titleist Ball Plant 2 in Greater New Bedford, Massachusetts, to ensure the most consistent performance, quality and feel - from ball to ball and dozen to dozen.

Titleist TruFeel

TruFeel PERFORMANCE & TECHNOLOGY

Titleist TruFeel delivers best-in-class performance through the most advanced low compression design and manufacturing technologies:

  • NEW Larger (1.600”), Faster and Low Compression TruTouch Core generates low spin for long distance
  • NEW, Thinner Reformulated TruFlex Cover is a proprietary Titleist formulation designed for very soft feel and excellent greenside control
  • Spherically-Tiled 376 Tetrahedral Dimple Design features a symmetrically optimised pattern to enhance long game distance

Sidestamp Alignment

The TruFeel continues to utilise an alignment aid-type sidestamp, providing golfers the option for easy alignment without having to mark a line on the ball. The design was inspired by the most popular alignment aid available through the My Titleist customiser on Titleist.co.uk since alignment options debuted in February 2018.

Price & Availability

TruFeel is offered in both white and high optic yellow, both of which are available in Titleist authorised retailers worldwide from February 4th, 2022. Matte Red golf balls will be available beginning October 1st, 2022.

Titleist Velocity Golf Ball

Titleist Velocity

Power breeds confidence and the new Titleist Velocity golf ball is engineered to provide increased speed with high flight for golfers with one main objective - long distance.

This is accomplished through a new higher compression core and reformulated cover combination that delivers the longest, best performing Velocity yet.

Frederick Waddell said: “This golf ball is fun for our team. We‘re designing for a golfer looking for distance, and that allows us to be singularly focused on speed and overall distance through the bag. We were able to achieve the performance goals of longer driver and iron distance while maintaining its high flight and greenside playability through new and reformulated core and cover technology.”

Mike Madson added: “We take the same principles and fundamentals that we utilise in the Pro V1 and AVX and apply them to Velocity. It is a matter of balancing the components to achieve the goals for Velocity of increased overall distance and improved greenside spin. In this case we developed a higher compression core and complemented that with a new cover formulation. The combination of those two factors helped us meet and exceed the expectations we had for this product.”

Available in Titleist authorised retailers worldwide from February 4th, the 2022 Velocity will be produced in white only until October, when golfers can experience the speed of Velocity in style with three distinct matte colour options - Matte Orange, Matte Green, and New Matte Blue - which was the direct result of golfer feedback.

2022 VELOCITY PERFORMANCE & TECHNOLOGY

The result of the new technology engineered into the 2022 Velocity includes longer driver and long iron distance, extremely low long game spin, high flight on all shots and playable greenside feel.

  • NEW higher compression 1.550” LSX CORE generates faster speed on full swing shots to deliver maximum distance
  • REFORMULATED NaZ+ COVER was designed for increased speed and playable greenside feel
  • A spherically-tiled 350 Octahedral DIMPLE DESIGN promotes a consistent and high flight trajectory

New Matte Colour Options

Titleist has also done extensive research and development in the coloured golf ball area, especially when it comes to matte finishes. A New Matte Blue Velocity will be introduced to the market in October alongside Matte Orange and Green.

Price & Availability

Standard white Velocity (#1-4) is available February 4th. Matte Orange, Matte Green and new Matte Blue will be available in #00-11-22-33 beginning October 1st, 2022.

SRP £28.00 per dozen
