Titleist Introduces Radar Capture Technology to Pro V1 Golf Balls

The new Titleist Pro V1 and V1x golf balls will contain Radar Capture Technology (RCT) for the first time.

Developed and nurtured by Titleist R&D engineers and further validated by a team of TrackMan experts, the new technology has been designed to help enhance data capture of launch conditions in an indoor environment.

The team at Titleist believe that this will help deliver the most accurate information possible and it will improve the experience for indoor fitting specialists.

Coaches and instructors will better judge what equipment golfers will need to be fitted for while touring professionals will be rewarded with more precise information.

Jeremey Stone, Vice President, Titleist Golf Ball Marketing, noted: “Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x RCT golf balls combine the game’s greatest combination of speed, spin, and feel with new technology that more consistently captures precision performance and golf ball data from Trackman units used in an indoor setting.”

He added: “We have worked closely with TrackMan for more than two years to optimise this embedded radar reflective, patent pending technology. The result is a reliably strong ‘signal’ that enables spin capture on all shots.”

Working alongside Titleist is TrackMan, who are excited with the collaboration and potential future endeavours.

While the Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x RCT offer the same design, quality and performance as the Pro V1 and Pro V1x, it is the enhanced benefit of indoor radar signal capture that stands out for the former.

The RCT models do not require application of reflective spin markers or precision orientation, as they only benefit from indoor and seasonal golf facilities that utilise TrackMan simulation.

Testing the RCT models has demonstrated that a 99% signal capture that portrays true spin, which results in further accuracy and increased total distance calculations.

Furthermore, RCT has enabled TrackMan to improve the spin detection algorithm which requires less ball flight to measure the actual amount of spin, which will benefit both high ball speed/low spin rates.

Finally, the RCT models legally conform with USGA and R&A regulations.

The Pro V1 and Pro V1x RCT golf balls will be available for purchase from authorised Titleist trade partners in the UK from autumn 2021 - with global distribution scheduled for April 2022.
