Northern Ball Markers Review

By: | Tue 08 Oct 2019

Review by Golfshake Ambassador Mel Davies

Producing custom ball markers and golf accessories, Northern Ball Markers started after Dan made a few markers for himself and friends. It started off with stamping metal with different names, slogans and designs and then progressed from there. Based in Newcastle, this began as a hobby, but then after sharing a few pictures on Instagram interest started to grow and the business took shape.

The business has been built mainly via Instagram and social media. The website launched just under six months ago, armed with a list of ‘goals’ to achieve. Dan set out to grow the business and continued to make some unique and cool golf accessories. The biggest change in direction for the business was purchasing the laser that he now uses for the majority of the products. This enabled Dan to engrave and logo or design - having never worked with metals prior to starting this venture, Dan says he is still learning and developing as the business grows.

At the minute the business is a one-man operation. He's just enjoying making unique products for fellow golfers. The contacts and friends that Dan has made along the way with the business through networking has been one of the most enjoyable aspects for him. His main aim for the business and what he produces is to create unique products that are high quality but to strive keep the prices low and as reasonable as possible.

Tech Specs

Dan mainly works with Brass, Aluminium and Copper to create custom ball markers & divot tools. With more products in the pipeline, Dan looks forward to seeing how the business progresses, adapts and changes. As well as custom individual pieces he produces batch orders for golf days, competitions and societies. The cost is hugely reduced when ordering in batch.

Looks

I was sent a couple of personalised ball markers and one divot tool in a lovely presentation tin and the whole package looks great. I have already had a few people ask about them as they have seen me using them and like me, they are amazed at how well they look.

Feel

You can tell from the off that these are made to the highest spec and they really do feel top quality. The divot tool repairs pitch marks probably better than any other tool I've used before. Very sturdy and I can see that this will last and work for years.

Performance

It’s hard to grade a ball marker for performance but these look fantastic and being able to get whatever you want custom made is a big plus for me – a Liverpool Football Club and Golfshake theme in my case. The divot tool is the best I have used.

Pros

These all look absolutely superb. Longevity will definitely be achieved and the custom lasering will make a great gift for the serious golfer out there.

Cons

Apart from the price which may put some off, not myself as like the saying goes you get what you pay for and these products are great quality items.

The Bottom Line

Great custom products that will be great additions to any golfer out there. The quality really is second to none.

Superb gifts for birthdays or Christmas and also a great prize for golf societies and golf days.
