Reviews for Sir James Country Club
Reviewed May 30 2018
Not a typical Thai golf course
We played this course in May 2018 and found it to be challenging but enjoyable. The layout is exceptionally well designed, making it essential to strategically place your tee shots and often lay up your approach shots, instead of attacking the green directly. Several tee shots are over water; but they normally give you a choice of going for it or bailing out. The drop areas are not as generous as those on many Thai courses, normally forcing you to face the same water hazard you just played into! The greens are made up of a rough grass and consequently very slow and not quite true. Also, some of the bunkers could do with more maintenance (while others were fine).Altogether, this is a moderately hilly and twisty course which resembles European more than Thai courses. Great value for money and requires constant concentration to play well. We teed off esrly afternoon snd saw only one other group on the course. The course offers some great views and is well worth playing more than once.
