What The Club Says

Located approximately 10km from George Airport on the coastline of the Garden Route near Herolds Bay, Oubaai Golf Course is a championship layout. It is rated by Els, a two-time winner of the US Open and a British Open title-holder, as one of his favourite courses in the world.

A traditional Links layout, the course has nine holes out and nine holes back. This has enabled the club to offer a unique two-tee operation, the first being an exclusive members' only area on the 1st tee and a visitor section on the 10th tee. Each area has its own clubhouse for golfers to enjoy the tranquillity and benchmark golfing experience offered by Oubaai.

Views to die for

Course is fabulous. Starts off fairly well, the par 3’s are the highlight of the course for me. You do your scoring on the short and not very challenging par 4s. 17 and 18 are a great way to finish.

Beware the sea mist. I couldn’t see a thing playing the 18th, while the sun was out over the rest of the course ????

Tough for High Handicappers

Lots of very dense rough and very hard to find ball if you stray. Significant carry of rough required from many T boxes.

Just returned to the UK having played Oubaai, Pinnacle Point, Fancourt and Arabella. Fancort, Arabella and Pinnacle Point were immaculate and the service received at each was world class. I had high hopes for Oubaai and left so disappointed. This was due to a combination of reasons, the greens were inconsistent and discoloured, there were quite a few holes that were just dull and straight and it took our 4 ball 5 and a half hours to get round due to a 4 group society in front of us. 5 AND A HALF HOURS! The group were all in buggies too but it was painful and no sign of a marshall despite the buggies actually telling you how slow you are behind the recommended pace.

One of our buggies ran out of power on the 14th hole and despite pressing the 'call marshall' button on the buggy no one came so we had to resort to being pushed along by our other pair. The GPS stopped working on the 2nd hole too and when it came on at the tenth it wouldn't change to yards from metres.
Staff in the pro shop couldn't have been less caring when we reported all of this at the end of the round!
If in the George area again, I wouldn't want to go back as the other 3 courses were far superior. At £70 each to play we expected so much more
