Earth course
I play off 17 back in England thank goodness for “slope value” playing off the members tees I had played 3 rounds before I broke 100.What a magnificent course but so many huge bunkers of which I visited most of.Marshals do push you on a bit which can be annoying considering the price you pay for a round and we weren’t that slow so we just let the 2 ball behind us through.but do play it.Reviewer Rating

Everything about the place was amazing up to recognising parts of it from watching the pros play it on telly. It was in amazing condition and a real golfing experience.

Great to get another chance to play
Played here in 2019 when i wasnt as good and i gave in after 10.So much better this time and I think the course helped me improve as you really have to plan your way around this course, you cannot go for every green in two unless you're super confident with 150+ yards out. I found myself laying up and wedging in on most holes. Certainly an enjoyable course and one you have to take your time to play.
I recommend the jacuzzi in the clubhouse for post-round relax before heading to the spacious sports bar. Only regret is not having the time to play the Earth course.

Phew what can I say you pay a top price and get a top course.warm up on the driving range is free with as many balls as you like plus putting green and bunker practice areas great full english in the restaurant/ cafe.buggy included and off you go for a great experience but don't expect to come back with a great score especially if you are a high handicap player the earth course is played in ?the race to Dubia ?and there?s a reason if you get under a 100 you've done well. Fire course is not quite so hard

Late Summer on Earth
Earth at JGE is at the start of its preparations for the Tour Champs in November and as such the greens are under a fair bit of maintenenance. Fairways are still decent, but don't expect perfect rolls or bounces of the dance floor. We still had a great time though, it's a great challenge.(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 95 Handicap: 17)

Off the back tees its a true test of your game, in many ways more so than the (more glamourous) Earth course. They had sanded the greens for summer which made them a little hard but they still rolled true

Great course but no ‘wow’
Numerous Golfshake reviews say ‘there’s a lot of bunkers.’ That is indeed the overall feeling you have, there is nothing much else to catch your eye. There is no wow to this course. It is lovely but no ‘wow.’ It’s a long one! 7706 yards off the championship tees 7045 off the green (tournament tees)(which I played); 6473 off the blue and the forward ladies’ tee is 5435. Par 72. My playing partner is a member of Emirates GC was disappointed by the condition of the course in comparison to both his previous visit and the Majlis. He pointed out how bare the fairway and ‘first cut’ were in places; how hard the fairways were - compared it to a British links in summer – and how rock hard the greens were – which I agree. For instance, I hit a 50-degree wedge 85 yards into a green which the ball was unable to hold and still released 30 yards across a hard green and into the run-off -hardly target golf in those conditions. The greens were overly sandy too, so I guess the course will be in better condition later in the year, but it did not spoil my experience.Typical tee shots have lots of very well-manicured vegetation (bushes, hedges, flowers) for the first 80-100 yards off the tee which is attractive and then you look up at a sea of manicured fairway bunkers. Giving the impression there is more sand than grass off the tee (but this is the desert remember). There was hardly a tee shot where my camera phone was not out which says a lot!
So be prepared for those tee shots over flora, picking a spot in between a group of fairway bunkers and fairways lined by boundary walls to hundreds of apartments. Not unattractive by any stretch but quite similar around the course. There are a lot of holes which are similar – only a few truly unique ones.
The standout holes are probably the par 3’s. There is a cracker on the front nine – downhill 175 yards from the green tees. and of course the 17th island green but overall the 16th is the best hole on the course with the almost island green finish.
Nice practice area too.
Good value as i played with a member (350 Dirhams so about £70 with 225 Dirhams to hire clubs)

Great to play
So many bunkers, really interesting to play and see what the pro's have to contend with. Very good pro shop and excellent service from them. Clubhouse (bar/resto) staff were somewhat slow and not what I expected from such a prestigious venue, saying that the food was excellent.(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 105 Handicap: 21.2)
