Reviews for Oldham County Country Club
Reviewed Sep 15 2026
Oldham County Country Club in LaGrange is a semi-private, 18-hole course designed by Buck Blankenship in 1958 and open to the public seven days a week. A recent renovation saw the installation of the area’s best Zoysia grass fairways, which are wide and beautifully conditioned. Numerous greenside bunkers guard small, receptive greens that reward a precise short game over raw power. Mature trees frame most holes, and the rolling terrain keeps things interesting. Two holes tend to come up in conversation after the round. The 13th is the longest on the card at 523 yards, a par-5 that gives you every opportunity to make birdie and just enough trouble along the way to make you earn it. The 15th, a 389-yard par-4 and the number-one handicap hole, where Blankenship put the teeth. Miss the fairway here, and you quickly enter recovery mode. Together they form the kind of one-two punch that separates a good round from a great one, and that members have been talking about since Eisenhower was in office.
There’s plenty to do for non-golfers as well. The Yew Dell Botanical Gardens is recognized nationally, and the café serves a great Turkey Panini. 3rd Turn Oldham Gardens is the State’s largest beer garden with craft beers brewed onsite. The Crestwood Mercantile features 80 shops and vendors spaced across 3 floors with something for everyone. And so much more. Three days in Oldham County barely scratched the surface.
