Thunderbird Country Club in Rancho Mirage holds historical significance as the first 18-hole course built in the Coachella Valley and host of the 1955 Ryder Cup. The layout is generally straightforward and accessible, offering a fair test with some greens featuring notable contours and multiple approach options. Conditions are consistently well maintained, and while opinions differ on the depth of the design, its place in golf history and its role in the region remain defining features.
