Play the Lakes. It is a much better course than the Desert.

Early in the spring, the fairways haven't grown out yet and tight lies are common. With some grass growth this course will be excellent.

Played here back in Oct 08 whilst in Las Vegas. It's about a 40 minute drive from the Vegas strip!....
The course was lovely and quiet and well maintained, we had a great breakfast in the clubhouse before starting the game which was of pretty good quality. All staff we very friendly! Even in October the temperature really started to get up into the low 30's in late morning...so wear that high sun factor!
We were able to rent clubs from the course and combined with the green fees we got a good deal from the hotel we were staying in - The Hotel at Mandalay Bay.
All in all, I enjoyed my first ever overseas round of golf!
