Playing here requires an invitation from one of the c. 300 members, many of whom are members of the Japanese business community in the Amata City industrial estate, owned and run by the company who own the golf course. The club prides itself on maintaining the course to PGA standards and has hosted PGA events in the past, as the many photos of international pro golfers on the clubhouse walls show. The course itself winds its way round two central lakes and covers a vast area of land. When we played in January 2020, everything was in immaculate condition, as befits a course of this standing and price level. Most of the holes can be characterised as long, undulating and guarded by many huge bunkers. Manoeuvering around the bunkers is key to playing this course successfully, as accuracy is rewarded in that there are almost always sufficient spaces beside the bunkers to land your shot. We played from the blue tees and found the length of many holes to be quite challenging (many of the par 4s are around or over 400 m), demanding not only a good drive, but anlong and accurate second shot. The Greene were often sloping and were significantly slower than on many other Thai golf courses. One undoubted highlight was the floating green at the par 3 17th (which looks tiny from the tee), to which you are ferried by boat to putt (or take your drop!).
The course and everything surrounding it are magnificent and playing here a fantastic experience. If there is anything to criticise, it might be a lack of variety in the design of the individual holes as the round continues, but this perception could also be due to mounting frustration at not scoring well! Altogether: If you get the chance to play this too-level course, go for it!
