What The Club Says

The first 9 holes are quite technical, as you have to avoid three of the five existent lakes. The three last holes of the front 9 can spoil even the best score card, as they are the handicap 1 (par 4), 13 ( par 3), and 3 (par 4) in the course: they called by the local golfers the "Amen Corner" of Bonalba. The back 9, being also quite technical, requires stronger strokes. It has holes where the dominant breeze from Levante makes it difficult to reach the green, normally forcing the golfers to use more "woods" than usual. On holes 16, 17, and 18, the breeze blows right into the faces of the golfers.

While reasonably open & forgiving off the tee, fairways are narrower than they look & greens fast & tricky. The area hadnt had much rain of late so more worn areas than youd expect & empty lakes & ponds not easy on the eye. Clubhouse seemed nice but hoping better value in the area.

The course lay out is a bit strange. Playing between rows of houses crossing under and over roads. The fairways are fairly forgiving and the conditions good. We were forced to play with another couple as a four ball which turned out ok but was not what we wanted.

Very bad experience. Too much waiting at each hole, very poorly maintained greens. Not worth th time or money!

Lovely course. Friendly staff.

It's long and challenging with a fair bit of water and hills to contend with but not intimidating so ideal for all abilities. The greens weren't in great condition but were running fast and putting was one of the biggest challenges when putting down even the slightest of slopes. Enjoyed it thoroughly though.

What a great design if you like a golf course that is technical and not just a bash-it resort type course. There is plenty of interest, no two holes are even remotely similar and a good mix of long holes and shorter holes. The design incorporates water, slopes, bunkers and waste areas so well. It is not overly long off the yellow tees, which could be a blessing because when I played it today, the fairways were pretty long and it even drivers where "pitch & stop". I can imagine in summer without water the fairways could become like runways and shorten the course a lot.
I really enjoyed playing the course today and I am definitely going to play it again during my stay.
The booking, the service, the welcome, the food, drinks, buggies were all lovely. I played quite early (8:56am) so the kitchen was closed but there was still a good variety of sandwiches available made there and then.
I have two negatives, both little things: hopefully these will save you a few shots when you play: (a) there is no fringe to the greens. There is fairway and then green... so if you need to shape and run one in to the green it ain't going to happen. Well, certainly not today anyway. I had to run a few in and all them ended up short with the thick fairways. My suggestion is to get it airborne and fly everything on to the green (b) the greens were badly spiked and loads of pitch marks weren't repaired. It's not a criticism of the course but more of the hackers playing in front of us (2 4-balls and a 2 ball). You can get a few wonky results from your putts and take a pitch fork with you and repair a few while you go. It'll help the players behind you...
Also, if you're from the UK/Europe and aren't used to the thick bladed grass, take an extra club or two out of the rough. I left a few short today.

A good course, great design, quite a challenge. Condition let it down, especially tee boxes and fairways.
