What the club says: Ranked in the top 30 Courses in Continental Europe, The Atlantic Course designed by the famed Robert Trent Jones jr, is escapist golf at its best.
With its bold drives, courageous approaches and artful greens, it is both an adrenalin rush and a soothing journey through one of Portugal's most inspiring landscapes. The opening holes and the final flourish share a wooded vale in the shadow of the rocky mountains, while others arc and plunge over scented hillsides. Exciting at every turn, this championship test and host to the Portuguese Open, is a master of variety and thrills.
Its sister, the nine-hole Monastery course, is a perfect partner - equally pretty but a fraction less demanding

fantastic course
wow, what an experience playing on the championship course at penha longa. anything not on the fairway will punish a weak golfer. beautifully set out course and a good challenge for all handicaps. clubhouse prices mean it is more for the well off, than for the average golfer.Reviewer Rating

Penha Longa-a golfing experience
This is a wonderful golfing experience in a fantastic setting outside Lisbon. It is well laid out and the course has improved greatly from 2018. The greens are superb and the fairways are back to their best. A very challenging course but will allow you score if you keep it straight and on the fairways. The setting will blow you away and windy conditions make it tough. The Par 3s on the back 9 will test you. The practice facilities are top class.(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 99 Handicap: 23)

Very pretty and challenging
Lovely golf course with very special views down the holes from the tees. Some challenging holes but I would revisit tomorrow. Puts most of the other courses in the area to shame with the condition of the fairways and greens and the state of the cart tracks, where others are more akin to offroad tracks poorly maintained. Not cheap but all the staff are excellent and clean your clubs whilst you are relaxing with a post round drink.(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 98 Handicap: 19.1)

gorgeous round through the pine trees
The first 7 holes lull you into thinking you are a good golfer and then the course bites you. When windy hole 11 is mean, you have to play well left to avoid the bushes. The following par three over the lake is tricky as well. The scenery is beautiful and the green perfect. very enjoyable.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic course in beautiful setting
This course is situated in a mature setting surrounded by loads of trees and beautiful scenery. We were unlucky to play on a really windy day so there was a mix of the good and the bad in terms of our golf. The fairways were not cut and at times one struggled to identify where fairways begun and ended and at times the semi rough and fairways were indeterminable. This remains a quality course but they must be challenged on finances as little money is being spent on its maintenance.(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 96 Handicap: 21.8)

A Cracker! They even clean your clubs!!!!!
This is a cracker. Start to finish overall the best course in the area in my personal opinion (having played Oitavos Dunes and Estoril). The facilities are exceptional, from the club house, to the hospitality and general service, to the course. Perfect. When we arrived we were greeted with smiles, we were given free water (not unusual) and the drink box in our cart was filled almost completely with ice keep them cool (very unusual). The course is brilliant. Interesting holes, well maintained, beautiful scenery and well spread out. Practise facilities excellent. Only down side was that as a two ball we were told we had to join the pair already on the tee because they were so busy that day. Thankfully they were a nice pair, although we saw no signs of these crowds of people we were told about. It seemed pretty quiet to me. But this is a minor quibble and if there had really been a clash of personalities we could have split up once playing. After the round we had a drink and the beautiful bar and came out to discover that they had hand cleaned our clubs for us, not just brushed, I mean warm water and carefully cleaned even the grooves! Never had that before and was a really nice touch. Honestly can’t speak highly enough of this place and would move in and live there if they’d have me!!Reviewer Rating

A must play when in Estoril Area
What a course, what views and a great location. One negative would be that players need to rake up bunkers and that greens had not all been cut. However, the walk the view the club house was special.(Round played: Oct 2017 - Score: 82 Handicap: 8.4)

A very pretty course set amongst the Sintra hills. Pretty hilly, with some long links between holes so likely to be tiring on a hot day, but fine for us in a buggy.
The course was in good condition, with slick greens and a real challenge.
We were staying in the adjoining hotel and had a great deal to include the golf, although the cost of the buggy at Euro60 - a joke!
Great level of service and friendly staff.
Only other negative vibe was the lack of control at speed of play around the course. As a 2 ball we finished almost 50minutes ahead of the 4 ball family group behind us. Had we been behind this group we would have been less than pleased.
Looking forward to returning to Penha Longa
