So picturesque
A spectacular Bernhard Langer–designed island course with jaw?dropping scenery, challenging shot'making, and a sense of escapism you don’t get anywhere else. It’s not the easiest course I have played, but it is one of the most memorable in the Indian Ocean.Setting & First Impressions
Stepping onto Ile Aux Cerfs feels like entering a postcard. The course sits on its own island off the east coast of Mauritius, accessible only by boat or helicopter. That alone sets the tone: this is golf as theatre.
Island setting — white sand, turquoise lagoons, mangroves, volcanic rock outcrops
Arrival experience — the boat ride which comes as part of the ‘green fee’ builds anticipation beautifully
Course atmosphere — peaceful, breezy, and surprisingly wild
It’s the kind of place where you pause mid?round just to stare at the water.
Course Design & Playability
Designed by Bernhard Langer, the layout is clever, strategic, and can be brutal if the wind picks up.
Shot'making demands — narrow landing areas, forced carries, and mangroves waiting to punish anything offline.
Lots of signature holes — especially the par?3s, which flirt with the lagoon
Conditioning — consistently excellent greens and fairways.
It’s not a course you overpower; it’s one you outthink.
Facilities & Experience
Practice facilities — solid, though not enormous
Clubhouse & dining — relaxed, scenic, and perfect for a post?round drink, although our visit was later in the day than planned, so the sun was going down and we had no time to enjoy the hospitality, but the sunset was lovely.
Service — warm, attentive, and very Mauritian in its hospitality
The whole experience feels premium without being pretentious.
Who Will Love It
Golf travellers — it’s a bucket?list destination
Strategic players — every hole asks a question
Scenery seekers — arguably one of the most beautiful courses in the world
If you’re looking for a gentle holiday round, it might feel intimidating. But if you want a course that stays with you long after you’ve left, this is it.
Overall Verdict
A world?class, visually stunning, and technically engaging course that delivers a unique island?golf experience. It’s not just worth playing — it’s worth planning a trip around. I would love to return and play again.

Simply Stunning
This is an absolute must play course, where the challenge is on strategy rather than just opening your shoulders and hitting the ball as hard as you can. If possible, take the time around the 11th to visit the beach and grab something to eat. It was so good that I'm going again in 2026.Reviewer Rating

Paradise
Have always wanted to play this course and it did not disappoint. I used hired clubs from the course and although they were Taylor Mades, it was not the same as having my own. The course is simply stunning and the views are unbelievable. You struggle to remember that you are here to play golf and not just take pictures all day.The course is challenging and a true test. The last hole has a choice of 2 greens which is truely unique.
It wasn’t cheap, but how often will I have the chance to play this beauty. Don’t miss the chance.

Awesome holiday golf!
What an experience! The views from the boat ride across to Iles aux cerfs are stunning, only surpassed by the views from some of the holes on the course. Free golf if you stay at Long beach resort, you need to hire a buggy and I hired clubs, all in £70. The clubs for hire are Taylor made stealth irons and woods and you have regular and stiff shaft options. The course is immaculate and tight. This is not a bombers course, like its architect, Bernard Langer, this is a course you need to think about each shot. You are either in play or reloading. The par 5s 9 and 11 are great holes, with stunning scenery. 9 is a great risk/reward 2nd shot over a large lake. 11 has one of the best views in golf from the green. I played off the white tees and there are some thrilling tee shots, particularly on the back 9. I play off 1 handicap and knocked it round in 75. It's a tricky course but not overly long, hit good shots you will be rewarded with some birdies!Only criticism is the friendliness of the bar staff. Something the club need to look at. If in Mauritius, you gave to play this place, brilliant set up and stunning views!

Beautiful, unique course
Incredible 19 hole course in Mauritius on its own island practically dedicated to golf. Beautiful views across the course and from the tee boxes, but you're still away from the beaches so there are no spectators and you can focus on the golf. The 18th and 19th holes are from the same tee box where you have to clear about 140 yards of mangroves initially, but completely different holes thereafter. Unlimited free rounds included when staying at Long Beach Hotel with free practice balls made it even more special. The staff were super friendly. The fairways and greens were in amazing condition. Buggies were a bit steep at 1250 Mauritian Rupees (about £25) per person, which was strange that they didn't charge per buggy, but they did include GPS via a touch screen where you could also order food and drinks. Surprisingly quiet for a late Sunday morning round. It seemed that only tourists were playing from the hotels. Overall a magnificent course and would definitely play again.Reviewer Rating

Enjoyed the round on this island course
Really enjoyed round. They have a clubhouse, buggies, hire clubs available on the island. You can reach it by staying at the Anahita resort {which I didn't think was a very good hotel} or there must be numerous other ferries there because the island's beaches were full of tourists.
My gripe was these tourists were wandering round on the course when we got furthest from the clubhouse. There was a guard but he hid in the bushes and clearly didn't want to do his job.

Enjoyed
This course is on an island.Note that the mainland course will tell you to hire clubs with them and take them over on the boat. However, they are available over here (although cant confirm quality or price: suggest you email) as they are overpriced on the adjacent Anahita course at £50 at time of writing for poor quality and damaged clubs
Enjoyed course. Problems with beach users wandering around on the course in the afternoon. They have guards on buggies, but they hide out of the way rather than confront the problem they are there to do which was the biggest disappointment of the day.
