What The Club Says
Set in a picturesque valley overlooking an unspoilt panorama of rolling hills, lays Minthis Hills, an 18-hole championship course.
At an altitude of 550 metres above sea level it is a course for all seasons, enjoying cool breezes even during the summer with mesmerising mountain views. The course enjoys a historical location, encircling a twelfth century monastery, with holes surrounded by grapevines, walnut, almond and olive trees.
Designed by Donald Steel in 1994, the course has recently undergone extensive enhancement by Mackenzie & Ebert famed for their work on the British Open Championship courses, the same design company used by the R&A for many of the courses on the Open Rota. They are fervent believers that golf courses should fit into the landscape and be in-keeping with their setting.
At Minthis, the elevated tees invite everyone to ‘have a go’ yet narrow tree-lined fairways provide an exhilarating challenge, with each shot requiring careful assessment, few places are so tranquil for a friendly game.
The signature 13th hole is a challenging par 3 that has to be played to be appreciated; the green is on an island surrounded by hazardous water. Looks are deceiving and although it seems relatively straightforward it requires precision and accuracy to reach the heart of the green.
In addition to the course Minthis Hills boasts a luxurious clubhouse with a restaurant and sports bar. The team of chefs trained by Alain Ducasse offer culinary delights and first-class service set in a comfortable atmosphere where you can relax and admire the amazing scenery.

Disappointing
We played the course 12 years ago and thought it ‘not worth the trip’. We were assured there had been many improvements but I still hold the same view.Too short, so even poor golfers think they can reach the greens from the fairway, they can’t, and it just slows up play. Too cramped and, therefore, noisy even when we weren’t dodging errant balls and shouts of ‘fore’. 5 and 1/2 hours is always too long for a game of golf. Some pretty holes but a poor experience.

Fun and some challenges
This course has some fabulous views towards the Troodos Mountains, and some exciting layouts of holes; the 10th is a challenging drive across a ravine to the fairway, whilst the famous par 3 is a surprisingly long tee shot into the island - all or nothing. Played it twice now, at different times of year; both times the conditions were not very good, scrappy tee boxes, patchy Bermuda grass fairways, but greens were ok, fairly consistent and fast. We hired clubs, which are appalling quality, and not cheap at €35 per set. For all the money spent on the buildings and infrastructure of this top class resort, that’s not good enough. The new Bar M and restaurant are amazing…. a fantastic spot , away from the golf clubhouse.Reviewer Rating

Holiday golf
Played with 7 others in mixed group, club house and staff lovely, friendly and helpful, fairways were not good to say the least! Greens fair, views spectacular , other golfers inconsiderate to fellow golfers! However we did enjoy our round. And if we came back to Cyprus we would probably the course again but with buggies!Reviewer Rating
