Really Enjoyable
Played Spalding last Tuesday (28th May), as a small society. The area had seen a fair bit of rain in the previous week and it was pouring on the way there so had reservations - needn't have! On arrival met by a genuinely nice chap in the pro shop who was an absolute credit to the club, very friendly and welcoming. Staff lovely in the clubhouse and enjoyed a nice lunch before going out. The course itself was excellent and was in superb condition, not least given the recent rainfall - the greens were some of the best I've played on in recent years. It's a challenging but fair course, incredibly enjoyable. Happy to recommend!Reviewer Rating

Lovely course
Excellent course but played on a windy day is tough. Found the greens very hard and flying the ball on to the green was guaranteed to go off the back!Reviewer Rating

The course itself was in super condition. Despite the dry spell, the fairways were all well-grassed and the greens ran true at a nice pace. Most parkland courses that are out there tend to be a little ‘up-and-down’ with holes running in parallel all too frequently. Spalding is a little different in that respect; there are numerous dog-legs which afford the opportunity to shape shots both ways and there is a good variation in their length, enabling a choice of club from the tee as an alternative to driver. Of course, there are a few straight, parallel holes but our over-arching feel for the course was that it offered something more than the average parkland layout. We understand from the pro there that the club will be attaining Championship status in due course once a planned regional competition has been held.
Notable holes include the 2nd, where it dog-legs right to left teeing-off across the river Glen that borders the course; par 3 9th with a pond short left and the short par 4 11th, again right to left around water to a raised green. 17 and 18 are also nice little par 4’s swinging a little right to left, ideally requiring a right hander’s draw.
All-in-all, the course provides for a thoroughly enjoyable round of golf and well worth a visit if in the area.

Hidden gem
The course is in great conditions, enjoyable for levels of golfer. The long spell of good weather has not taken its toll on the course, driving range and putting green close to the clubhouse. The staff were very friendly well worth a visit.Reviewer Rating
