Hidden gem

Just back from playing a seniors open and was a little concerned about playing a nine whole coarse, but we were in for a pleasant surprise,we received a very warm welcome, after a good chat with one of the two! grenkeepers we proceeded to play with a member because our playing partners failed to turn up.All in all a great day and a credit to all concerned with Masham G C.

Visited this Course with a friend on 26th. May. Do not be fooled into thinking it is an easy 9 holes it certainly is not and would provide a challenge for high and low handicappers alike. The friendliness of everyone at the club is second to none. Andy Marshall the club professional is excellent and is very helpful.

i am a member of masham g.c. and find it the best 9 hole course i have played. it starts of with a shortish par 5 with a tee shot of about 270 yards to the corner of the dogleg, leaving about 210 to the green.2. an elevated tee with a shot of between 135 -150 to a small green. a ditch in front and to the right of the green and 1 bunker to the left. 3. a short par 4 0f 300 yards, keep as far right as possible with your drive for the best approuch to the green.4.a 220 yard par three hitting over the river .5 a long par 5 dog leg left with the river running along the left of the narrow fairway. 6. short par4 with a pound creeping onto the left hand side of the fairway just on the driving distance. 7.par 4 easy of yellow tees but a tight driving hole when playing of white tees. 8. 175 yard par 3 dont be long or left O.B. .9 long par 4 slight dogleg right.dont try to cut anything off or you will be O.B. or to tight to see the green.

Played their in a winter alliance competition. It has a reputation for excellent greens and lush fairways. We weren;t disappointed despite the heavy rain before we arrived, which caused a few problems. The course is two loops of 9 holes, which can become a bit monotonous but the quality of this course, tucked away in the corner of Nidderdale, is excellent. There's a lot of water with a few holes crossing the River Swale? and some of the views are stunning.
