What The Club Says

Whether playing as a member or a guest, on your own your own or as part of a larger group or society, we are certain you will thoroughly enjoy this hidden gem of a golf course and the friendly ambience of our contemporary clubhouse. With varied and interesting design features including riveted bunkers', generous raised tee-ing areas and no less than 7 water hazards, Messingham Grange's 6033 yard course may be short, but is sure to test your resolve.

Undoubtedly one of the most memorable holes on the course is the challenging Par 3 Fourth. The 129-yard hole plays from an extensive raised tee position offering excellent views of the pond, which you will have to carry to reach the green. Our back-to-back Par 4s, the 12th and 13th, measure a combined 842 yards off yellow tees, and with a prevailing head wind, make for two of the hardest holes on the course. These follow the Par 5 11th hole, a dog-leg left, with three bunkers placed between 80 & 120 yards from the raised green.

The course is enhanced by the Swedish style timber framed club house, home to our TWENTY04 bar and restaurant providing both golfers and guests the perfect atmosphere in which to relax and enjoy a refreshing drink and meal after a game.

Left to go to ruin

Arrived 20 minutes before our tee time. Facility was all locked up. Went to the practise putting area. Absolute disgrace. Get on the first tee. Bin overflowing, tee box not cut. Fairway not cut. Green in horrendous condition. This continued on every single hole.

It's a shame because it has the potential to be a fantastic woodland course with some lovely looking holes. But it has had no investment and just been left to massively decline. How do I get a refund??

Messingham Grange Course Condition

This was a really good parkland course that i have played regularly since it first opened in the 80s.
After a returning to play again after winter the course we played on saturday would make previous owners have a fit.
The fairways are poor and ill defined. No clear differentation between fairway, second cut and rough.
The tees have animal holes and scrapes in them and are weed plagued.
The signature first tee is particularly poor.
All the bunkers are ground under repair, they have hard compacted, old sand and also full of leaves, weeds and also some with water.
Worst of all alot of greens have weeds and daisies. They do not looked cared for anymore.
Overall the appearance of the course is scruffy and unkempt.
I say this with regret as this was a favourite of mine and it does have great staff facilities.
However i noticed since the recent refurbishments it does not now have a dedicated golf room,it is now a bar and diner dedicated to the holiday makers and cabin dwellers.
Which is alright but it is not a golf clubhouse anymore.
I have since heard that the Head green keeper is leaving and the ground staff are down by a member, maybe that is a small exscuse for the course being as it is, from my experience they are a hard working dedicated team, hence my disappointment in the state of one of my favourite courses.

Dissapointing

First visit of this year proved to be a disappointment. The fairways were uncut, greens patchy with daisy's growing out of them and the "bunkers" comprised of compressed sand/mud with weeds growing out of them. There was no sign of any greenkeepers which was unusual for this course. I suspect the owners priorities lie elsewhere. On the positive side, the clubhouse refurbishment is impressive and staff friendly and there doesn't appear to be any difficulty getting a tee time

Absolute garbage, green keepers haven't been seen on the course fof 3 months. The course is littered with leaves and tree branches. I have just rejoined and feel I have been robbed .and we had to pay all the money in one go.

Big improvements

Course was in great shape. Nearly mown fairways and greens in excellent condition. Bunkers still wet in places but big improvements from last years. Can see the investment starting to become effective
