What The Club Says
Elie is one of the most highly regarded courses in Scotland and the historic links terrain effortlessly combines undulating fairways with large, fast and firm greens. It also has some sensational views for golfers to enjoy and these play an important part in creating what is one of the most wonderful golfing experiences not just in Fife, but also in Scotland.
At 6,273 yards the course is not long, but its network of bunkers are beautifully placed to catch those that stray offline or misjudge their distances. This can be all too easy to do, especially as the prevailing south westerly breeze slackens or stiffens during the course of a round.

Quintessential Scottish Links Golf
This has instantly become one of my favourite golf courses. Having heard and read much about Elie through the years, I was brimming with excitement to play here - and my high expectations were surpassed.Visually spectacular, the setting is breathtaking, and the holes are packed with character and intrigue. They don't make courses like this any more, because they simply can't be manufactured. Places like Elie are forged from the landscape and ooze soul.
This is the sort of creation that connects with me and the day I return to Elie will be a special one - just like my first visit was. Magnificent.

Exceptional Elie
this was a memorable golfing experience that will live long in the memory. an evening round with friends having spent the day at The Open. Elie starts quirkily with a periscope supporting the starter due to a blind tee shot.It then opens out into a wonderfully picturesque Scottish links of excellent quality and conditioning.Take a carry bag and half set if necessary as you will need to manufacture shots throughout. Then simply enjoy this simple but complex contradiction of a golf course.Watch out for some cross over holes and ensure you call errant tee shots if you don't want introducing to other golfers in less than favourable conditions. I LOVED IT!Reviewer Rating

Links and history at its finest
WHAT A COURSE! This is a course offering views, quirks, a test and the opportunity to play a fantastic links golf course.First up there are some quirks but that makes it part of the charm. The opening hole is played up and over a hill and to check if you are okay to tee off you can access the periscope in the pro shop to look down the first fairway. There are also several holes where tees and greens are in close proxomity but again this just adds to the experience by coming into contact with fellow golfers out on the course. The 10th also provides a blind tee shot with its own quirks but once over the top of the hill you are presented with some outstanding views which continue once you turn back and play 11, 12 and 13. On a clear down you might even see across to East Lothian and the likes of North Berwick.
There are no par 5s but with some long par 4s, Elie provides a good mix and variety of holes and it was a joy to play this charming course.
We played late in the evening in Summer 2022 with the course running true and fast and slight wind providing enough to make you think but not too much to cause problems. Clearly this course could be a test when the wind is really up.
Finally, don't worry if you plan to play in shorts and see online about the need to wear knee length socks - this rule was changed back in 2020/2021. However, I'm pretty sure if you do play and play in shorts you will very likely wish you were wearing long socks - this is one of the charms of the course and makes it what is is.
Highly recommended and a must play if you visit Fife for golf and looking for somewhere on the southern coast. To reuse a phrase, Scotland and this part of Scotland, is quite simply 'Golf Country'.

Wow, Wow, Wow.
Go play here. I promise you wont regret it.Historic, quirky, raw, golf - in particular - links golf is supposed to be just like this.
A few shorter par 4s are really fun. Some blind tee shots but very well markered (both middle and edge of fairways) and classic bumps and hollows everywhere.
The stretch around the turn is quite simply magestic. The views are stunning and its just one of the best places to play golf.

Lovely day
Fantastic course, staff were very friendly and helpful and the course was a delight to play, thankfully without too much wind as there are several blind shots which local knowledge would definately have been helpful on. Really enjoyed the day.Reviewer Rating
