What the club says: This pleasant heathland course offers something for every golfer. The Par 4's are made up of wide, open fairways with few bunkers to present any danger. The Par 3's are a little more challenging and pleasant to play. The Par 5 Second however is considered one of the best Par 5's in all of Ireland.
A dog leg left, with OOB @220yd straight ahead from the tee and a stream to carry as the hole bends left, only the best will reach the green in two and making it in regulation is a challenge in itself.

Played down royal on the 3rd of june 2019 honestly it was one of the worst golf courses I have ever played the fairways were like the rough on other courses if you hit the ball of the fairway at all you couldn't find it. The greens have holes or indentations all over them the whole course was in very poor condition

Course is is reasonable shape for January but the greens were terrible. Slow and very bobbly. 3 groups waiting on the 2nd tee but once we got 5 holes in the paced picked up. Food afterwards was very good as we're all the staff.

You can tell there's not much love for the course by the owners as nothing has improved in 15 years but, there are a few tricky holes and the fairways and greens had been cut to a reasonable standard.

1st time playing this course, it was with St Lurach Society and when we arrive in the morning it was horrendus weather, torrential rain for about half an hour non stop to just before our tee off times, weather brightened up and the course was in fantastic condition after the rainfall that morning and previous days, fairways were in fantastic shape with only a few soggy patches, would definitely recommend this course

very fun course which im now getting back into it and target fo summer is to get down to shooting in single fiqures over as im sitting at constant 10-11-12 the last 7 or 8 times ive been out.
