What The Club Says

The course was initially laid out by Willie Park Jnr., a two-times Open Champion, and later reconstructed by James Braid. As a result Baberton is a challenging and beautiful layout on undulating terrain

Been likened to Augusta in terms of clever use of elevation and undulating to add to holes not make them better not just hilly. Arguably the best course in the area.

One of those "must play" courses in Edinburgh

A surprisingly great club for a small mill village on the edge of Edinburgh. Friendly with a modern clubhouse and full of initiatives to move the club forward make it a pleasant environment to play a round and relax. Good practice area allows for warm up before play and when you get to the course it keeps pace with the club including a short children's tee for early teens and younger. At around 6,000 yards it does not seem too onerous a course for the mid-handicapper, yet given uphill slopes and a prevailing wind this is more a 6,600 Yd level layout with enough of a test for scratch players while allowing a little slack for new players. Turf was in good order, Greens running true and moderately quick.

Lovely Course. Challenging contours on the fairways and greens. Course in excellent condition given the heavy rain of recent days.

Fantastic course in Edinburgh

Wonderful James Braid course with fantastic views of the Castle and the 3 Forth bridges that complement the layout of the course.

(Round played: Feb 2017 - Score: 92 Handicap: 18.6). Ground undergoing major change and holes re-ordered. A friendly club and good support from members. A couple of winter greens, to be expected in February.

Great course. fairly long with some blind holes so the second time of playing should see scores come down.

A long course with some blind holes, would benefit from playing the course again now I know it, some challenging holes but is forgiving through most of it off the tee
