6 Reasons to Stay And Play Golf at Tewkesbury Park
Tewkesbury Park is a luxurious resort featuring a boutique hotel and restaurant, well appointed wellness centre and 27 holes of golf. The hotel is a charming former Georgian manor house set amidst 176 acres of picturesque parkland, offering stunning views of the Cotswolds and Malvern Hills. Golfshake sent Ambassador Rob Treanor on a short break to experience everything the venue has to offer, including the acclaimed Deerpark Course.
Promising great golf, luxurious surroundings and exquisite food options, this is a destination which is set up to deliver a memorable stay…here are some reasons why you should make the trip.
Spectacular Setting
Having caught fleeting glimpses of Tewkesbury’s glorious town centre, guests arrive at the entrance to Tewkesbury Park before beginning a sweeping ascent towards the hotel, which is situated at the very top of a hill. Its location offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape including the spires of the Abbey and the picturesque Cotswold Escarpment.
The Exceptional Accommodation

Tewkesbury Park boasts 93 well-appointed rooms, each featuring modern amenities which are classically furnished and styled. A recent renovation saw a large proportion of these upgraded, ensuring a consistently high standard throughout.
Venues which take the time to consider all aspects of the guest experience can design in the brand ethos. At Tewkesbury Park the intent is to create feelings of calmness and relaxation which are delivered in part by the furnishings and colour palettes. An often overlooked sense is smell but Tewkesbury Park’s attention to detail here lifts itself above many others in their scenting of the space. This layers another level of luxury on top of the remarkable surroundings.

Adding in a further layer of luxury is the exquisitely comfortable bedding. This is a noticeable step up from most hotels and guarantees a good night sleep after a day spent walking the fairways.
The Quality Food & Drink

Following a round of golf or having taken advantage of the wellness facilities, the Number 19 Café is conveniently located to provide refreshments and light bites. Similar fayre is on offer in the sophisticated Cocktail Bar & Lounge in the main hotel where additional treats such as afternoon tea are also available.
Mint is the hotel’s primary restaurant and benefits from floor to ceiling glass windows and an orangery which maximise the breathtaking views onto the golf course and surrounding countryside. Food is truly a highlight at Tewkesbury Park with standout evening choices including exotic options such as the Himalayan Goat Curry and Smoking Brothers’ sashimi cut smoked Scottish salmon. The new menu for 2025 also includes traditional options such as fish and chips, a grill menu and a beef burger, though our recommendation is to opt for one of the more unique menu choices and experience the skill of the culinary team. All of the menus change with the seasons and executive chef, Anuj Thakur, sources all ingredients locally.
Also worthy of mentioning is the Cotswold breakfast which is served in Mint restaurant. Real attention to detail has been paid to the quality and provenance of the ingredients making this a real highlight of the stay. Local meats, butters and juices are all available and deliver a very tasty and genuinely memorable breakfast experience.
For larger events, the venue has a permanent outdoor kitchen including a traditional clay built pizza oven and sit-down BBQs. Sited in a more private space, this is an ideal area for larger golfing groups and still offers the awesome countryside views which characterise the venue.
The Stunning Golf Course

Designed by the renowned Frank Pennink, the par 72 Deerpark Course stretches over 6,554 yards across the crumpled undulations of the historic parkland which make for a fantastic playing surface. The parkland layout weaves up, down and across the high ground on which the hotel sits proudly.
A pretty, welcoming and enjoyable course, it is not overly punishing making it a fun track to play. The trademark mature trees present an array of strategic challenges, forcing playing golfers to steer a course to find the correct position. You can read our full length feature review here.
Also onsite is the 9 hole par 3 Acorn course which offers a more informal way to play or be introduced to the game.
The Impressive Facilities
Tewkesbury Park has a range of other excellent amenities for guests to enjoy. The hotel’s wellness centre features a well equipped gym, indoor pool and steam room. The opulent outdoor area features a hot tub, sauna, and an array of loungers on the sun terrace which are great to relax on during a warm summer afternoon.
Spa enthusiasts can indulge in treatments at the two treatment rooms. Also available is an in-room spa pampering box for a more private experience. For more active guests there are two tennis courts or the hotel is ideally placed to take advantage of the outstanding walking routes available in the local area.
There are plentiful electric vehicle charging stations located in the car park for easy access. Whilst guests may not immediately notice, the hotel has made significant investment into its electricity generation meaning it generates all of its own electricity without any reliance on the grid. This self-sufficiency is in keeping with the venue’s approach to local sourcing and shows the level of thought and care which has gone into sustaining its operations.
It's Going to Become Even Better
The hotel is currently planning a significant refurbishment to a large proportion of its bedrooms and is working on plans for the re-modelling of its golf and wellness buildings and facilities.
In addition, the outdoor terrace currently features a traditional garden lawn with games such as croquet, giant jenga and a mini putting green. The venue has plans to enhance this to become a spectacular feature, offering guests the ability to make the most of one of the most picturesque parts of the hotel. As with everything at Tewkesbury Park, undoubtedly this will be delivered with a level of quality in keeping with the standards throughout the rest of the resort.
When you consider all of these factors, Tewkesbury Park is a venue which gets the details right. Great golf, awesome food and comforting and relaxing surroundings make staying here an absolute pleasure. The stunning countryside views in every direction just top this off. Taken in with a glass of something cold and one of the delicious offerings from the culinary team, I sat and wondered whether there are any venues which do this better…
