Guide to Golf in Belek, Turkey

By: Golfshake Editor | Mon 26 Aug 2019

Renowned for its striking championship courses and luxury resorts, Turkey has grown significantly in stature to become one of the most celebrated holiday destinations for traveling European golfers. Drawn by the climate and all-inclusive venues, there are several key regions that attract visitors, but it’s the famous golf coast of Belek in Antalya Province that is hard to surpass anywhere.

The Area

Overlooking the Mediterranean, Belek is home to many spectacular beaches, thermal spas, and historical sites, including the Roman amphitheatre at Aspendos and the ancient Greek city of Perge’s colonnaded streets. It’s a playground for tourists, but for golfers, there is even more to discover.

Focusing on two venues in particular, which are ideally catered for those seeking luxurious accommodation within glorious conditions and surrounded by outstanding courses, the Sirene Belek Hotel 5* is one for your consideration, impressively elegant and packed with amenities.

Sirene Belek Hotel 5*

Boasting 250 rooms that are all accompanied by open spaced balconies that feature panoramic views across the Mediterranean, this hotel possesses an array of acclaimed restaurants that offer a wide variety of cuisine, ranging from the traditional dishes of Turkey to South American delights. Home to the Sanitas Spa, there is something here for everyone away from the golf.

Additionally, there are some tremendous leisure facilities to enjoy. These include a number of swimming pools, a health club, tennis courts with tuition, and table tennis. Perfectly located on the beach, the hotel provides great services to keep you relaxed and rejuvenated featuring a towel service as well as drinks and snacks from the lively Beach Bar.

But what about those courses; the Sirene Belek is attached to the revered PGA Sultan and Pasha Courses at Antalya Golf Club. The former is a wonderfully testing layout, scenic but engrossing in its challenge, while the latter is comparatively easier, but shares the scenery and conditioning that makes this such an attractive 36-hole venue.

Within the area, guests can also experience an abundance of surrounding courses, which include the National Golf Club, Cornelia Golf Club, Gloria Golf Club, Robinson Nobilis Golf Club and Maxx Royal Montgomerie Club, underlining why this is part of the world claims such a formidable reputation.

Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort & Spa 5*

Elsewhere in Belek, the stunning resort of Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort & Spa 5* is another popular option. Located just 20km from Antalya Airport, many golfers will be aware of the 27-hole golf course that was designed by the great Nick Faldo. More on that later. Within the venue’s 571 bedrooms that are maintained immaculately, divided into various categories; garden family and lake family rooms, and diamond suites, golf suites, blue suites, and presidential suites, with the added option of lake villas and houses. Whatever your needs, there will be something for you.

Positioning itself as an all-inclusive hotel, the resort possesses nine Al a Carte restaurants and 13 bars. Specifically, The Sapore hosts a taste of the Mediterranean, while the Sumach offers an authentic taste of traditional Turkish cuisine and for something a little further away, dine at the Tai Pen for a far eastern meal with a unique flavour.

On site, the Spa is another highlight of Cornelia Diamond, complete with Turkish Baths, Saunas and treatment Rooms, not to mention eight swimming pools to choose from. Besides the golf, there are other activities to experiment with, notably Mini Soccer to Archery, Tennis to Water Polo, for the more adventurous among you.

However, let’s take a closer glance at the golf, those three Faldo designed loops of nine holes – the Faldo King, Faldo Queen, and Faldo Prince. Completed in late 2006, this layout is highly regarded, each of the loops combining to provide an enjoyable and strategic round, all within walking distance of the main resort, completing the rich experience of Cornelia Diamond.

Conclusion

Should you wish to venture further afield – and much like Sirene Belek – there are many other courses to sample within the region, making this a great base for the ultimate golf break to Turkey.

Just a short drive from Antalya Airport, both Cornelia Diamond and Sirene Belek serve as perfect gateways to discovering why this part of the world enjoys such an unforgettably high reputation.
