SkyCaddie Gets The Measure Of England Golf

By: Darren Ramowski | Thu 12 Jul 2012

skycaddie-4338One of amateur golf's long-standing partnerships is to continue, with the renewal of SkyCaddie's status as Official Rangefinder with England Golf.

The arrangement means that the England Golf Men's Squad will each receive a wireless SkyCaddie SGXW, for use in competitive events where distance measuring devices are allowed.

Golfers who have signed up for England Golf Member Benefits will also enjoy the chance to win SkyCaddie SGXWs in Prize Draws during the remainder of 2012.

"We have spent the last ten years helping to improve course information for amateur golfers," said SkyCaddie's UK managing director Jacqui Hitchcock, "so extending our previous agreement with the EGU to support the new England Golf organisation was one of our easier decisions. The work that England Golf does throughout the grass roots, and up to elite golfer level, is vital to the game, and we are proud to support it."

Victorious Walker Cup Captain and England Golf Director of Coaching, Nigel Edwards, said: "No matter where you are on the golf course, a SkyCaddie will always give you an accurate yardage and therefore an advantage. In addition, the new Pin Position technology means that SkyCaddie’s SGXW now rivals laser in accuracy, and exceeds laser in versatility. Every member of the England Squad has one.”

John Petrie, Chief Executive of England Golf, said: “Sport is full of technology; video replays, goal line sensors, Hot Spot and so on. SkyCaddie is the leading distance measuring technology in our sport, and has led the way in product innovation and golf course mapping for over a decade. We had no hesitation in extending our long-standing relationship with SkyCaddie."

The SGXW’s Pin Position feature enables golfers to input exact pin positions from a pin sheet onto their SkyCaddie, giving ultra-precise distance information to the pin. The development is seen by many as removing the only advantage laser devices have over their more versatile GPS counterparts.
