Tirol offers far more than elite tournament golf. With more than 20 courses - including the 17 "Golf in Tirol" partner clubs - the region caters to every playing style. Golfers can tee off at the foot of the Hahnenkamm, enjoy views of the Wilder Kaiser, or play across sunny plateaus and lush alpine landscapes. This unique blend of natural beauty and sporting variety defines the Tirol golfing experience.
For those looking to explore multiple courses, the Golf Tirol Card provides maximum flexibility. Valid across 17 partner clubs, it allows golfers to choose freely between 9-hole and championship courses. The card can also be shared by two players and remains valid until the end of the following season. For the 2026 season, prices are €297 (approx. £255) for three green fees, €392 (approx. £335) for four green fees, and €485 (approx. £415) for five green fees.
Where You Can Stay
Complementing the courses are 43 quality-approved golf hotels, many family-run and tailored specifically to golfers’ needs. Guests can expect personalised service, assistance with tee time bookings, secure equipment storage, and often shuttle transfers to nearby courses. All hotels offer packages that include the Golf Tirol Card and are located within 25 kilometres of a golf course, ensuring a relaxed and convenient stay.
What Makes Playing Golf in Tirol Unique
Golf in Tirol stands out not only for its scenery but also for its distinctive experiences:
- Cross-border play: At Golfclub Reit im Winkl-Kössen, golfers move seamlessly between Austria and Germany during a single round.
- Exceptional quality: Six courses are ranked among the Leading Golf Courses of Austria - an impressive concentration reflecting rigorous quality standards in design, maintenance, and facilities.
- Rich heritage: The Golf- & Landclub Achensee, founded in 1934, traces its origins to an English archbishop playing on alpine pastureland - a story that marks the beginning of golf tourism in the region.
- High-altitude play: Courses such as Seefeld-Wildmoos and Seefeld Reith, located at around 1,300 metres, offer not only breathtaking views but also a unique playing dynamic, with thinner air allowing the ball to travel further.
- Modern excellence: Newer courses like Zillertal-Uderns and Kitzbüheler Alpen Westendorf combine contemporary design with top-tier infrastructure and are now part of Austria’s leading golf courses.
- Extended seasons: Thanks to favourable climates, areas such as the Mieminger Plateau and Zillertal enjoy particularly long golfing seasons, often stretching from early spring into late autumn.
This combination of tradition, innovation, and natural diversity gives Tirol a distinctive place within Austria’s golfing landscape.
